What does everything think is more worthwhile the +STA or +AGI?

"Everything" thinks that HP > Avoidance. jk but I'd definitely go with Stamina over Agility with the combat changes. (although I'm STR/INT for dps, since I never tank and really only raid)You might also look at whichever stat is lacking...if one is really high, be mindful of the diminishing returns.

Well, there's only 3 options available for footwear. +100vs Cold, +14 STA and +14 AGI. The reason I asked is I just picked up Tonlets of the High Priestess last night from Harla Dar, and they replaced my Kyle Bayle boots from the EoF expansion. They have str, sta, agi and +3 defense.

I guess what I am wondering is if there is a diminishing return on STA that results in lower HP gain. Not sure if the +avoidence from the +AGI will be that beneficial, vs the +14 STA would give me maybe 40 or so HP unless there is more of a curve.

Self buffed I'm at 8.2k HP, so I break 12k when MTing, but like you say I can always use more.

I put AGI on mine for a couple reasons. First, there are a lot of other slots where I can add STA. Second, just about every piece of gear has a healthy amount of STA but not so much AGI..../shrug.

I did +14 agi cuz my AGI was lower than str, sta, int (Im SK but stil revelant to paladin for agi cuz we are similar on stats other than int/wis).. I saw that my avoidance % gained a nice 0.5% just off +14 agi that would means less to a monk for example.. My agi was 240 vs close to 400 in str,sta and INT..

Bottomline, go for agi if your agi is too low and will enjoy big return..

Message Edited by Nocifer Deathblade on 01-12-2007 04:51 PM

I chose AGI also because due to stats on my existing armor, my agi was pathetically low.~Hawke

sta probably would be the best choice in my view, cause if you happen to be called on to off tank or something I think your gonna want hp>how fast you hit the mob

Agi doesn't increase haste... it increases your base avoidance.~Hawke

keep in mind the soft cap as well. Whatever your favorite stat may be, once the diminishing returns kick in, it's probably better to put some points in another stat instead of focusing on the one stat that isn't improving so much anymore.

I went with Agi on my Green-splinted Fearstompers because as someone stated previously it seems fairly easier to find gear with Sta bonuses rather than decent Agi bonuses. Also my Agi really really really ... sucked.

Well, as a follow-up I went with the +14 AGI for my Tonlets of the high priestess.... which at the time gave me +.6 Avoidence. However, I have been trying to find ways to boost my HP, since it seems low to some other Pally's out there... and have been considering changing it to +14 STA.

The +14 AGI gave me .6 Avoidence, and the +14 STA gives me about +50 HP. I'm still debating which way I'll end up going since avoidence doesnt matter much on epic mobs, and I really have no problem on heroic mobs...

k what the math then? u get hit with 1000dps u avoid 6 damage each sec at 10 s thats 60 damage.

I like agi myself

If you are fighting an epic, you have 23 other people contributing. A big problem I ran into shortly after the uncontested avoidance adjustment was that my monk still had less uncontested avoidance that any other tank. This was frustrating since I also had the least mitigation. I found myself getting hit way too often on a few test runs against lvl 70^^^x4 mobs. When I looked over the data, I found my effective avoidance was about 15%. 12% of that was the uncontested from my defensive stance, and the other 3% was all I had left from my contested avoidance. My character sheet read 35% deflection, 14% parry, 32% base - that means that 23% deflect, 14% parry, 32% base collapsed all the way down to a whopping 3% avoid. I despaired. However, I also noticed the people with me were not really debuffing mob offensive skills. So, we did another test run where I had them be sure to apply and maintain debuffs to mob offense. On that run, my effective avoidance shot up to about 60% - which was nearly my avoid vs solo mobs. We did not have a full compliment of mob offense debuffers on the raid, either. I'd say a constant -70 s/p/c was maintained. It appears that debuffing mob offense for a total of 100ish or more would get nearly all of my avoidance back.

The point I am trying to make is that contested avoidance does matter, even on raids. You need to be sure your raid force is debuffing mob offense skills, though. If they do, you will enjoy most if not all of your normal avoidance while tanking
