I'm evaluating a few different KOS AA builds trying to maximize DPS for an off tank in raid situations. I figure I can tank heroic content just fine regardless of my AA choices. I'm never going to be the Raid tank, and I want to maximize my contribution via DPS and Support.I can see 2 different configs, and I'm hoping someone would have already done the parse data to determine Attack Speed vs Crit Proc.Combat Speed Build:Str - 4/8/8Wis - 4/4/8INT - 4/4/6Going with Axe and using the first two STR abilities should hop my attack speed up a good bit.Crit Build:STA - 4/4/8 Max Melee critsWIS - 4/4/8 Max Melee Skill bonusesINT - 6/4/8 Max Spell Crits and bump Int with last 2 (2 to heal crit possible, but heals are so small and uncommon, the little crit chance isn't going to parse to much). So, has anyone done real testing vs these 2 styles of builds to determin which yields the best dps output?I'm starting to think the crits using 2hander might outpace the combat speed of the 2h axe.Thoughts?Real Data?

I used to have max spell crit, max melee crit, and everything else in haste. I did very good DPS while doing this. Combine it with the Wraths line and you can do pretty good. I have since changed for the reasons detailed below.

You did mention that you will never be a MT, but you would be an OT. This is usually my role as well. What I have done with my AA's is a little different. If you will be called upon every so often to pick up adds, or take the main mob when the MT goes down, I would recommend the following setup.

Sta 4/4/8/8

Int 4/4/8/8

In this setup you have good melee and spell dps, and more importantly, HP's. I've personally given up the spell haste line, I feel that it's not crucial to tanking. You can generally get some decent adornments and buffs that increase it very good. I added the Heal AA's for two reasons. First, it helps my solo play, and second, it goes a long way to keeping me up longer during raids.

Switch over to the Paladin tree and you'll want to pick up the Block AA and Smite Evil. This will give you your DPS and better ability to OT, while again, adding more HP's.

Message Edited by Mgunner on 01-03-2007 02:31 PM

I thought about that config, but Guild reallly wanted me to pick up the stat buffs in the wis line for my usual placement in a dps group. For EoF, I've gone heavy in wrath line, and some in support, and I jumped to Hero just for one ability. With 2 guardians, 2 berzerkers and 1 paladin on our raids, its very rare that I pick up any adds, and when I do, its really just tieing something up to keep it off casters. I don't have any problem with those mobs with 0aa, so not really sure I want to burn AA on hp. I can't pick up dps from anywhere buy aa, hp can come with gear.
