No, not really. Once you reach higher levels, the extra 5 strength or even 15 strength that other races might have will not matter that much when you are sitting at 350 str or so. Same with most of the other stats. When you first start out the curve might be steeper, but it should not effect your survivabilty to a great degree. <div></div>

Yah it does matter, that's why you see alot of barbarian and ogre tanks. Races get various racial traits, as a barb I think I get severl +mitigation choices and a +5 defense choice. Erudite choices are prolly more caster oriented. Unless you plan on tanking raids, I wouldn't sweat it too much. <div></div>

Other than that, race doesnt matter at all in the high end. I am human and tank T-7 raids so it really doesnt mean anthng.</DIV>

It doesn't matter, even with racial traits +5 Def doesn't make that huge of a difference when all your armor has + def on it.<div></div>

And now that you bring it up, the size of your toon can help out when tanking too. In the end it doesn't much matter, but some races do have an edge. But kudos for tanking T7 raids! <div></div>

The +5 defense we get is a 3min duration buff able to cast on anyone. It's called leadership. It's not passive. It also has like a 30 min recast on it.If there was another inate ability, I've forgotten about it now.<div></div>

Yep thats true.. but you also get as human a 5+ passive defense. I did a respec Yesterday.<div></div>
I'm a lvl 60 Tier'dal paladin, so I don't think you'd be any worse off than I am currently and I'm happy with what I can do (most of the time) with him.

Makes no difference whatsoever in the endgame... size is easily dealt with via illusions. I'm a gnome and I constantly use Guise of the Deceiver when group or raid tanking.<div></div>

<DIV>Right now the race doesnt matter very much if you wish to just tank. I am a dwarf and constantly use guise of deciever or troll/barbarian/ogre/kerran/iksar illisions or now with the marr cloak i usually let the proc make me big. The bigger answer is what we will see later down the line with the trait upgrades the devs are talking about due to the power of the fae traits right now. As a dwarf with the eof expansion i was down to the extremely cruddy traits of summoning ale every 30 mins and a divine damage proc that does 80point each hit for 3 mins with a recast of 30 mins. Or a few others that increase skills my character would never use. When that day comes, i may find it completely different and wish i was a barbarian or "shudder" a gnome..<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Unless you are a min/maxer in a hardcore raiding guild, your race is really personal preference/roleplaying than any real uber advantage. Just my observation from being called a minature rotten banana in my relic gear setup...<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
