View Full Version : Is Mit THAT big of a deal anymore?

Of course we all know that Mit is THE factor when tanking almost every Epic mob, but my real question is...Is the Mit difference between a Crusader and a Warrior small enough under the new diminished returns system to make us a more viable alternative as a tank? Not trying to open a "bash session", just curious if this was the step in the right direction or not.<div></div>

<P>It seems to me that with the diminishing returns curve, decently equipped paladins will be closer (percentage wise) to the mit that guards and zerkers were able to achieve in the past. That's because at those upper levels, that 500 extra mit (random number grabbed from the air...) is worth less, percentage wise, than before.</P> <P>I've seen many discussions amongst the warriors about dropping some of their higher mit items to try to compensate with their avoidance, since that tends to be significantly lower. It makes sense if you think about it... drop 2% mit, to raise your avoidance 10% or more.</P> <P>So, I guess in response to your thread title: No. It's not as big a deal (on the high end) as it used to be. It's still extremely necessary for survival, however, especially in the MT role. Warriors will still have a higher % of mit than us as a general rule. The gap has just lessened.</P> <P>~Hawke</P>

<DIV>Cheldrak's rough till you get debuffs up and he wipes debuffs fairly regularly.  Don't see a Pally doing it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Besides that's the easiest job in the fight anyways.  Get a dumb Guard to do that and leave the heavy lifting to us.  :smileysurprised:</DIV>

Mit isn't irrelevant, it's just that 63% is adequate and anyone can hit that, compounded with the fact that it is hard to get much higher and doesn't make that much of a difference. The relevant climbs now are avoidance and health.   Raid buffed pally with 63% mit, 63% avoidance, 14k health will do well MTing.  Really 13k is fine.  I have no freaking clue if we'll be able to MT Mayong or Woushi yet. And yes, Guards are still better MTs all around.  We are closer post EoF though ( a million pallies will disagree with this, but /shrug). <div></div>

Yeah other then the beginning positioning of Chel'drak I don't see a reason as to why he couldnt' easily be tanked by a Paladin....Matron on the other hand, I am not quite sure on.....it would be fun to try, but that fight depends on the rest of the raid being focused as well.<div></div>

<DIV>I'll have to reply with , mit and avoidance are both very much the factor now.. pre eof  mit was king, now i think mit and avoidance both are king .  my paladin and beserker both lvl70 and both are just over 4100 mit, and my avoidance is alot lower on my paladin yet i have better gear and shield on my paladin , and my beserker will out tank my paladin anyday..  my beserker is also still in 3 xegonite pieces, sabatons, gussets and shoulders.. my pally is in firebrand, scalelord, and relic helm, with the draconic deflector....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>high elf paladin,  dwarf beserker..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> now if you have a lvl70 pally and are able to obtain the aa's to add 20% to blocking, this might be the break over point for a paladin and make them very good tank...</DIV>
