View Full Version : Low to medium Paladin soloing
<DIV>Started a Paladin and am taking my time and making sure I have all the best stuff I can find at each tier. When I hit 32 I harvested until I had all the feysteels to make a full set of mastercrafted armor. Also had my alt make me a mastercrafted two-handed axe and purchased the adornment with damage plus a 26% slow. I am in the process now of finding all the ruthenium I need to get my jewelry up to mastercrafted level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I find soloing is very easy and very enjoyable with the Paladin. I start each fight with my ward and the divine mit. debuff with the first HO. From there I pile on the damage while staggering my stuns to get full effect. I am very close to taking out 4 heroic gorge panthers that are my level in Zek. They are no arrow up but heroic. It all depends on how much I get interupted and if my 15 minute heal is up. I have bought a lot of masters and the rest are adept3's except for my taunts which I dont use since I always solo except to complete HO's. Would those give more damage to the HO if they were upgraded?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My question from the more knowlegable paladins is about the AA's and anything you could advise on strategy and gear that would help bring more DPS as I figure that is what I need mostly to solo best.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I picked the axe AA that increases your attack speed and the other two that increase damage on different CA's. I see a lot of advice on going the Int. line in the KOS line. Is that something I should do at my level or stick to specific AA's in the EOF line.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did search the board for help and found some-but not all I was looking for. Any constructive advice would be appreciated as I am really digging this class as a solo player and want to try and push the limit as much as possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Happy Holidays,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Jerril</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>edited typo in Subject message</DIV><p>Message Edited by Jerril on <span class=date_text>12-07-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:27 AM</span>
<DIV>When I was at that stage, I didn't really have much along the lines of AA points (my most recent pally was closing on 30 when KoS came out). But I found that the Pally was good for soloing until you get into the 50's. At that point, it really slows down something fierce (it's still doable, but slow). I'm closing on 60 now with Jal and I can still find places to solo effectively. With the AAs, I'm going down the Str and Wis(not taking the Wis final) lines for KoS and the support and hero lines for EoF.</DIV>
<DIV>In the 50's what is it that slows us up soloing? Is there anything to get or do to prepare for that slowdown as I will solo this guy to 70.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the reply Raston.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Happy holidays,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Jerril</DIV>

<P>it is mainly the loss of solo quest content and the drop of xp per kill once you get up around 50 (I though 44 or 45 was bad too, but that may have just been me). But I still solo with Jal (he is 25% of 59 right now) but it gets far slower just due to the amount of xp per kill and the time it takes to kill a single mob (only get about .2 or .3% per kill of even con no arrow mob, only slightly more for an even con ^ mob, so little an increase that it isn't worth it given the time investment).</P> <P>Around 55 it picks back up again for a bit (with the quests in swiftrider camp in PoF) but once you've drained those, it slows back down again. Oh, the basket quests in TT are good too for some quick boots to your xp, but those mobs are 56-58.</P> <P>It isn't really gear oriented (I was in prenerf cobalt and ebon at lvl 50 with a decent sword and the HQ shield). Granted I only have one master (other than my M2 choices) and only a couple Adp IIIs, so most of my stuff is Adp I.</P>

I am a 36 pally and I don't seem to have any stuns and never seem to stun my targets. Is it with AA's? You get two of them. They're associated with your shield bash and kick.<div></div>
<P>and one of the AoEs right? I thought one of our AoEs had a stun on it too.</P> <P>One thing that it brings to mind, does stunning raid targets still produce nasty side effects, or did they remove that penality for using our abilities and just make the stun part not work?</P>

<DIV>I soloed pretty much up to 62 when I got with my current guild. The low 40s I spent in Everfrost in the valley left coming from docks. High 40s I went to Lavastorm and run thru the tunnel of goblins and then killed all the non agro ones just the other side of the tunnel. Low 50s around the beaches of Oasis killing the pirates they come in groups of 3 and there are lots of them. Upper 50s Pillars of Flame I killed harpies they come in groups of 2-3 if stick near the cliff wall for ocean tend to be all reg mobs if you grab them from island or off rocks there are some heroics. I made it from about 35-62 in 40 hours solo in these places. After you get to 60 just find groups doing the mini quest from TT in KoS from frogloks at hidden refuge. STR line is great butt for solo I would go down Int first grab the spell crits and heals respec later but for solo heals and spell damage are number one.</DIV>

<DIV>Since I solo 99.9% of the time, I can tell you that I have done anything and everything I can to increase my DPS. AA-wise, I went STR and STA mainly for increased Health and DPS. The INT line will help as well but I have never tried it. I may respec to STR and INT or STA and INT for the heck of it to see if there is a noticeable difference.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The gear you get will pretty much take care of the defensive nature of your Pally, that's why I focus the AA's on our weakness....DPS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The adornment with the slow and damage proc is a good one and I use that on my 1 hander that I use when I am tanking or fighting something tough but you may want to look at the one that is essentially a power tap that drains the mob and gives you power. More power = more DPS!</DIV>
