I'm gonna remake a Paladin after my long retirement ... and readng through this board hasn;t raised my hopes much; but one thing kept standing out.... If every class is means to tank differently why are we still pandering over the 'true tanking stats' (the ones warriors use).. mitigation, avoidance, health, etc. etc. However much we push it we will never be a warrior's equal in those stats... not saying that keeping them high isn;t a bad thing... it has served us this far... but trying to increase stats to the level shown by guards and zerkers just isn't possible. Now, I remember a while back I was brousing through the boards and I came to the SK boards... after a lot of throurgh work done it showed just how much intelligence has a baring on a SK's DPS (Source), this has been made more obvious with the SKS change in reguards to powerpool. I'm not saying SKs didn;t kow increasing intelligence increased their damage at all.. in fact they all knew but I would wager most of them before the saw a full breakdown had pushed into a full pure +STR setup. And that brings us nicely to Wisdom... I've seen the stats of some guards and zerkers... and wisdom is certinaly not one of them.. unless added in as an afterthought for reists... and what is that Paladin's have that no-one apart from healers have in abundance.. wisdom. Even without trying most palls sit on 200+ wisdom, and many much higher. We share amrour with templars for pete's sake and the comparrison's between clerics and paladins are made so often it is almost becoming a joke. But I'm saying what if.... What if a Paladin really concentraed on Wisdom... how would that improve his tanking ability? There is plenty of armour all the way through the tiers (STA/WIS/INT) even rings and bracelets those same three stats... what is we completly abandoned trying to copycat warriors and stand out with wisdom.... Lets think at what it might offer us: - Resists - Power OK... that's a bad start, no Paladin worth his salt will want those really... no flashy big numbers nothing to relaly take anyone breath away.... but then you think at all the PvP Paladin's who are currantly top of the pile and revelling in their abilities at the top of the game... what sets them apart from the rest of the PvE world..... Resists. Resists are skewed somewhat on the pvp servers and Paladins have been know to resist spell after spell after spell on them pretyt much nullifying a wizard's damage capability. Paladin's can cap the currant resist without even trying ... but with the new cap for resists ... what if we DID try to cap resists? I have been in the MT group of a raid often enough to know if a debuff or DoT isn;t removed as fats as possible (cured) the MT or MT group is as good as dead. With some mobs/tanks it is a matter of spamming the button all the way through the fight... yet with others... hardly a cure to be made. This is plainly due to the MT simpley resisting the effect - an unnamed mob fireballs hits you for 5892 damage but YOU resist Look I'm not saying we've got it all wrong or anything or indeed we're "broken" or "useless" I'm just asking... what if? I know there are a few beta buffed paladins wandering around these boards... SoE wants us to be a 'resist tank'... How about next time you are on test and see how wrong they are (or how right... I'm not sure how this'll turn out). Any thoughts?... I'm not trying to start a flaming war or anythign... just wondering how much do resists factor into the tanking equation... and have we been leaving them out?
