Not really <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />This fight is all about strategy, and once you figure it out (which shouldn't be too hard, since well there are strats for it all of these forums) Tarinax isn't that hard.Gear helps as well, as does poison resists, but pretty much if you get a good pull, and follow the strategy (so you don't get adds), this fight isn't that bad. The mob after Tarinax is tougher <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

My own list for Tarnix...1.) Make sure NOT to wear the winged hat since it will distract the ladies- Check2.) Make a rez macro for the un-amended warlocks and wizards- Check3.) Stretch in very unusual ways to gain flexibility for when my face meets the ground- Check4.) Try not to distract the hot dirge and the hot mystic with my keen dancing- ...5.) Polish pants in hope to blind Tarnix from the shininess- Check<div></div>

<DIV>I assume you won't be tanking this. Not saying you couldn't do it, but I think you would need to be pretty well fabled out for it and have a very good MT group backing you up.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The problem with Tarinax is he resets aggro every 30 seconds or so and has a killer frontal AOE poison cone. He also has a poison dot that kills you quick. So you can gear for poison resist but I'm not really sure how much of a difference it makes. You need someone to cure the poison dot right away and if you don't have someone, or that person isn't reliable, you need to carry potions to do it. You'll get hit with the dot every 30-60 seconds.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You need to have the tank targeted for an LOH at a moment's notice because that frontal cone will take a huge chunk of his hitpoints whenever it goes off. But you need to be johnny-on-the-spot with the rezzes too because he generates adds based on corpses lying around and lesser rezzes from healers leave them too low on HP if the dot hits right away or you have loose adds.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Your AA points are spent pretty broadly. I personally concentrated on two lines rather than split among three. To each his own, though. If it works for you keep it. I'm set at 4/8/8 Sta and 5/8/8/8 Int. This maximizes my DPS. If you're going to try to tank it I'd go with the strength/sta lines.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And good luck! We've killed him three times now and wiped a few more times than that.</DIV>

The hoolah helm gives Wis, STR, and STA stat increases...and a defense increase which only effects avoidance. The relic helm gives STA and INT bonus's...good for HP and some damage output. Resistance wise (if you factor in the increase in WIS) they are very similar. There are much better helms then the relic one out there for paladins. HP wise you would probably gain about 60 HP wearing the relic helm...but probably loose out on some power due to the power lvl difference (STR and WIS in hoolah helm).</DIV>

Well, the only way I could see a pally tanking Tarinax is soley on the fact that his MT group is well balanced, with all the right classes in it. On PvP this is impossible. In order for a Pally (least from my standpoint) is that you need a defiler. The healers you could probably get without compliactions. But I'd prefer a corercer vs amends in my group due to 64% vs 41% that the corercer gives.

<DIV>Tarinax is not the hard imo. I tank him practically every week. (Usually dual tank due to mem wipe) </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Self buffed mit I'm around 5100 (Can get to 5300 with COP and other choice gear but to me, HP and stat loss not worth it). HP 8K so I don't have super great stats. I've spec'd for Int and Sta for max dps...cause dps = aggro control.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cures are your friend in this fight and your healers need to be on the ball. Spike damage will definitely ruin a good pull. HP wise raid buffed I'm usually around 11.7K which is plenty for this fight. Mit depending on class avail I'm either 5.7 or 6k mit. I always amend a brigand for this fight so not sure your grp makeup, would pick a high damage class obviously. This will really help getting aggro back quickly after mem-wipe.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I think DT is a perfect zone for a Pally. I find this zone easy compared to other zones like HOS which drives me nuts tanking.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I used to have the Wisdom line but basically resp'd to max melee and spell crits. I personally find that to provide the most benefit while tanking. Nothing like having 3 aoe spell crits in a row for holding aggro.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good luck to you. A goodie goodie raid has to be a challenge. I hate to say it but I love my evil brothers.</DIV>

Yeah being a good only raid and trying to tank Tarinax might be tough, but just pick someone for amends who can put out constant dps. I used to use a Brigand, but after a bit, we just setup my group for better aggro.Wow a good only raid though, loses a Coercer....that has to hurt <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

No brigs, no coercers, no defilers, no assasiins...it's a wonder the people in Qeynos aren't the evil ones, with all that handicap you've got to be at least ill tempered. <div></div>

to make matters worse we have at least 5 monks on average each raid...we are finally getting more casters and less tanks...but being on a pvp server helps kinda because of the kick [Removed for Content] weapons and decent armor you can buy from the pvp merchants...but is it possible to kill tarnix with goodly classes? i hear some say yes some say no...
