I've just returned to EQ2 after a long hiatus and I noticed last night that there seems to be 2 versions of all the T6 crafted gear/jewelry. Upon inspecting them I noticed the biggest difference is the new stuff has less mitigation but more stats and instead of 1-2 large resists, it has 3-4 small resists. Same with the jewelry, lot's of extra stats but no resists. Should I upgrade to the new items or stick with what I have? As far as crafted jewelry I am using all the old vanadium stuff (sta & agi rings) and a couple pieces of cobalt (the cuirass, spaulders). The rest of my gear is T6 Legendary/Fabled.Thanks for any help.Vorin - 60 Paladin

The idea with the crafting changes was that the rare crafted armor would no longer be the next best thing to fabled gear. In reality, they reduced rare armor badly to the point where normal crafted armor is beyond awful, and rare crafted armor is a starting point.

Basically, rare crafted has become a minimum standard for gear (for tank classes anyway). Most all legendary or better gear of equal level is going to be much better than crafted rare armor and jewelry. Crafted jewelry seems to have moved to a more specialized construct. Basically you can get stuff with super high specific resists, or high stats, but not both. Anyway, check the broker for legendary stuff if you got the cash. If not, go harvest for a bit and get your rares for a full set of xegonite armor (which you have to be 62 to equip).

Thanks for the info, reminds me of EQ1, 5 sets of equipment for different situations. I'll start looking for the Xegonite stuff; is the best jewelry the acrylia stuff? Or should I have a certain set of resist jewelry in a bag? I've always as a tank tried to beef my mitigation, stamina, agility & strength (in that order). Does one take precedence over another now? I'm assuming mitigation/stamina is still prime, but with the resist changes, that might be more important. Too many changes :/Thanks,Vorin - 60 Paladin

But old world vanadium is arguably better than new world acrylia. As far as resists go, they only go into effect if you're raiding really. The t7 instances are easy enough to stroll through, and there's typically no need for any type of resist. However, if you plan on raiding, a full set of all three moonstone jewelry pieces aint too shabby for pure resists (something like +950 to two resists).

If you're tanking, mitigation is still the way to go 99% of the time. Also, you'll want to make sure and keep up your STA and AGI (STR is easily way over the cap if you're raid buffed). But you have to be careful.... you'll never be as thick as a guard (especially with their AA line that gives them base mit), but you can't spread yourself too thin either.
