<DIV>The spell is <STRONG>Resolute Faith.  </STRONG>I rarely use this spell, and was curious is to when and why you would use this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I noticed that this does not stack with similar spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Do I cast it on the MT so he can dodge, or when I am MT do I cast it to get the def buff?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A little confused, because if I am MT, why would I care about someone's avoid if I maintain agro?  But if I am MA, and cast it on the MT, it will remove one that he has already cast.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ideas? Thoughts?</DIV>

<P>There's a good discussion on this here:</P> <P><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=10&message.id=19797&query.id=0#M19797" target=_blank>http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=10&message.id=19797&query.id=0#M19797</A></P> <P> </P> <P>I mainly just group as time constraints keep me from raiding other than casually and I'll drop it on a group member just to get the defense skill bump.</P>

<DIV>To use the spell, and how to use the spell, often depends on your group makeup.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Raiding...</DIV> <DIV>Raiding epic encounters, I use it to get my defense up, but bottom line is avoidance is worthless when raiding since they nerfed avoidance versus epic encounters all the time (lol how bored do you think healers would get if a mob could never basically hit a player).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Grouping...</DIV> <DIV>Depends on your group makeup. If, for some reason, you are an OT, healage, or DPS for the group, it is often nice to cast this buff on the MT depending on how you are geared. For instance, in a 1h 1shield defensive stance I have a normal unbuffed avoidance around 50%. With a 2h weapon in offensive stance, my avoidance is around 20%...if you are in all out dps mode its not always best to put this buff on the MT. Also, brawlers are the best in the group to place it on yourself or other players that are tanking since they have naturally hi avoidance lvls. If you are tanking and have no other fighters in your group, I often suggest putting this skill on priests to help keep them alive if they are being attacked</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Soloing...</DIV> <DIV>Used to still be able to have the skill up when soloing but can't anymore so its pointless soloing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This skill (when on you) does not actively show what your avoidance really is since its a passive ability relying on the other players avoidance. Mathmatically, it can have a huge affect on the damage taken by a tank in groups. I'll list it below.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You are fighting a mob (your level) that swings and hits for 1k mitigated damage every 3 seconds since your avoidance is at 50% to its level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You now have a brawler in your group who has the Master I of this ability and 80% avoidance currently. 54% of the time you will be able to make and additional avoidance roll on that brawlers 80% avoidance. To get the real additional percentage avoidance on the roll you will get you must multiply .54 X .80 which equals an additional 43.2% chance for avoidance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now you would think that 50% plus 43.2% would equal an avoidance of 93.2%....huh....well it doesn't work that way mathmatically. You get a 43.2% chance to avoid the additional attack the other 50% of the time so you multiply .5 X .432 and get an additional avoidance of 21.6%. That means while it shows you would only have an avoidance of 50 showing your real avoidance would be around 72%.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A much higher avoidance means you will receive a lot less damage and require less healing....besides making yourself look freakin uber....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Remember...the math doesn't lie...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Last thing...the fighter avoidance buff is one of the reasons why I think they nerfed avoidance versus epic encounters because while mitigation is capped at 80% a target level...you could realistically (with this skill) get a brawler to almost 96% avoidance versus all attacks....thats pretty sick.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<P>Ok, I use this all the time.  I am wondering why anyone wouldn't want to use it all the time.  It gives the target an extra chance at avoiding a hit, it doesn't matter what that chance is, its an extra chance even if your avoidence is at 20% in O stance.  Then of course it gives you the added D.</P> <P>It's a win / win as far as I can tell, even if your avoidence sucks.  Your low avoidence just means that your target doesn't get AS GOOD of a chance, still every little bit helps.</P> <P>In groups this is on a melee person, in raids I put it on melee or my favorite amends target.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

<P>Quite honestly the only time I do not use this, is if a monk has cast it on me when I am playing MT for something. If you are with someone else playing the MT, and it would knock a buff off of them, cast the dang thing on a healer or something. it'll give them an extra chance to not get hit, and it gives you defense. A win-win situation.</P> <P>~Sir Hawke Holyblayde, Hero of Maj'Dul</P>
