<DIV>Hey Guys,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm a level 70 raiding pally, but usually wind up in a misfit type group on raids based on the classes and turnout we have.  I was trying to get some info on gear that I should keep an eye out for to help me boost my self driven dps.  What I mean by that is, what can I personally gear myself up with that has nice procs, stats, etc since most likely the group im in won't be providing me those things (ie, no troub, caster or scout to buff me with procs).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For AA's I have gone down the Wis line for fearless because I usually tank/off tank fear casting mobs (or pick flowers in LoA lol) so with whatever is left over I've put into maxing my spell and melee crits as much as possible.  Should I consider moving points out of melee and maxing spell crits since I will get more bang for my buck out of them with  the higher crit % per point?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Gear wise, I'm usually using the gauntlets of glorious speed for haste, and then the acrylia dps and int ring.  The one class I do seem to have in my group all the time is a monk so thats why I went with the dps ring over the additional haste ring, since the gloves and monk get my haste pretty high.  I also have the bone clasped girdle for the proc and I am using the Vrakskin Club which is slow as hell, but that is intended, because it makes my procs go off a lot more.  It tends to crit a lot as well in the 2,500 range which is always nice (of course it can also hit for 30 as well which is funny as hell).  Would I be better off with a faster weapon?  I have a ton of 2 handers (who doesn't) so maybe I'd be better off with one of them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone have any recommendations for me to help increase my dps?  I was considering getting a set of xegonite melodic armor to boost my Int a little more to increase spell damage, but I'm not sure if the difference will be that noticable.  Generally I'm in the 600 dps range with swings higher and lower on some mobs, but would love to be able to get that into the 800 range more consistently.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the help!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Samil Rezbot - Vindicate - Everfrost</DIV>

<DIV>I can't help you with the gear question but I can tell you what I did for increasing my dps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I maxed out my spell crit in INT and went down the sta line to get increased melee crits.  The only thing I'm considering is removing the 4 spots I have in healing crits and moving them either to max out melee crit or to agi for additional avoidance.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have hit 1K to 1.1K  on group encounters in raids so not too bad.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you don't have Doom Judgement from bloodlines get that too.  That will add another AOE attack that you can cycle through.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I used to have immunity to fear but just found it to be too situational.  Not worth the 8 points.  Go into crouch or walk mode and fear isn't an issue.</DIV>

Couple things I would suggest.. First off, maxing out the spell crit AA will help out your DPS a ton.. right now I have both the max Spell crit (68%) and the max melee crit. Out of the 2 I found that maxing the spell crit helped my DPS out more because the spell crit AA also includes all the spell procs we have + any procs that others put on us, as well as weapon procs. As for the weapon, I use Rek'leco, Runeblade of the Doomflight (omg, probably spelled that soooo wrong).. but it has a pretty nice proc that goes off quite a bit, that works off the spell crit AA's as well.. not to mention the good melee dmg you get with it. One good item you should look at getting if you have the $$ or the time to look for the collections, is the Mystical orb collection quest. This ended up costing me 2pp on my server, but what you get is a choice of earring. One is a healing proc, the other is a dmg proc close to the belt (usually crit procs around 600 dmg for me), with 20 int and I think some disruption on it. What I love about this earring is that it even procs on things like taunts, so you have a chance to get some extra dmg just from taunting when you are tanking/offtanking. Obviously the more int you can get the better (assuming your STR is maxed out), but there are also items that give + to Disruption (spell dmg) that can help out as well. Most of the secondary items I take with me for DPS on raids and such have at least 20 int and +5 to Disruption.. it is not much, but hey, every little bit helps <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> On raids with a Haste class in my group I can usually do 700-850 DPS if I am allowed... usually I have to Amends a wizzard and sit there and auto attack... apparently it is bad if your out DPS the class you are suppost to be nurfing... -Jadara Lvl 70 Paladin, Oasis <div></div>

<div></div>Are you sure disruption actually increases spell damage? If you want to play a dps fighter class, reroll as a berserker.  Paladin just doesn't cut it.Edit : that having been said, Your str and int need to be maxed to be maximum damage.  I would look at gear that does that.  For example, DPS gear could be that xegonite that gives str & int.<div></div><p>Message Edited by khufure on <span class=date_text>08-10-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:15 AM</span>

<blockquote><hr>khufure wrote:<div></div>Are you sure disruption actually increases spell damage?<hr></blockquote> Disruption increases chance to hit of disruption-based spells, not damage, the same way all other offensive skill buffs do. The mouseover in the Skills tab was updated to reflect this at some point in the past.

<DIV>Really the only thing you can do that will seriously effect your dps is:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1- max spell and melee crit AAs, like others have said.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2- make sure all CA and dmg spells are at least adept 3.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3- the most important factor is group make up, unfortunately.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With a dirge and Iquisitor in my group, I can easily do 700-900 dps on single targets and 1000+ on multiple targets. This is on lvl 70+ epic x4 mobs.</DIV>

<DIV>About Disruption and spell damage.. when you scroll over the Disruption bar in your adventure tab it says:<BR><BR>"This is how well you increase the damage done by your spells" <- Exact quote from in game</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Seems to me that means that increaseing Disruption means that it will increase the damage done by your spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Jadara</DIV><p>Message Edited by Half-Rack on <span class=date_text>08-10-2006</span> <span class=time_text>09:09 PM</span>

<P>Thanks for all the info guys.  I figured the biggest effect on my dps would come from equipment procs.  If you wouldn't mind posting some of the gear you have that has procs and maybe what raid zone it came from I would appreciate it.  I'll know to keep an eye out when we head there next.</P> <P>Thanks again for all the replys!</P> <P> </P> <P>Samil Rezbot - Vindicate - Everfrost</P>

<P>Ahhh, ok.  Thanks Phov.  That basically goes back to my original problem of being in a misfit group that usually doesn't have many procs available to it.</P> <P>I seem to be in the Pally, Monk, SK, group of leftover rejects alot  :smileytongue:</P> <P> </P> <P>Edit - I started a new thread on this in the items and equipment to see if I could get more proc gear specific info from a larger audience.  Feel free to let this one die.  And thanks one more time for the info.</P><p>Message Edited by Walker76 on <span class=date_text>08-11-2006</span> <span class=time_text>07:03 AM</span>

Take a look at the Crusader achievement that increases skills or the Warlock group buff, they spell out pretty well how these skill buffs actually work. There's also a few posts discussing it from late 2005 in Lockeye's message history.

<DIV>Well-I really dont use my AA line for dps purposes--(only dps is the swiftaxe off the str line) cause theres no dps really in the str line and the sta line which i chose. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dps by basically a good combo of my taunt/divine debuff which helps alot-then just wailing out my attacks and AoE's as fast and as constant as I can-which usually works if I manage to get in one of my guild's raid groups that has a dps/haste buffer in it. Gotta say though-showing up on the parses when suck in the caboose w/the wizzies= kinda hard to apply some dps hehe:smileytongue:</DIV>
