I am a 70 pally, and while i am ashamed to say it, I only have 3400 miti buffed and in Defensive stance. I have tried everything i can do while being poor, and not having time to raid. any recommendations on certain gear or anythin?<div></div>

Blackscale Sepulchre, Halls of Fate, Den of Devourer all drop legendray armor, and do the claymore questline. You can prolly get over 4500 and close to 5k mit easily without a piece of raid gear. But if ya don't have the plat to buy Cuiras of Prot and chitin rings you gotta do these instances. <div></div>

First off not sure what you are wearing but Xenogite is cheap so get a few items of that to start with. Then Start on claymore line. There are a few drops in SoS that you should be able to pick up along the way that will help along with the quest rewards. If your gear is as bad as you claim just about every quest reward including the blood soaked will be an upgrade. PoA will more than likely be hard for you to tank but there seems to always be groups doing stuff there so getting into a pickup group should not be an issue. Once you complete the PoA steps in claymore you will have one of the best shoulder items in the game and the best you can get without a raid. Make sure when you have a choice of an earring or a ring you pick the earring. There are 2 reasons for this. First is that the Light Chitin Ring is better than the ring and second if you do happen to get in a raid guild and are able to complete claymore you will have a better earring later in the quest line but you will be getting any extra ear slot soon so you will want this since these are the only 2 earrings in the game that I know of with + Mit on them.Ok so you get through PoA now you are kinda stuck for claymore. Fear not most servers have pickup AoA raids just about every day. This is a x2 raid that you will need to do to keep going. If you can get that then you can do the Stuff in HoF and get a few more rewards which are good. Though once you complete the HoF stuff you are more than likely stuck unless you join a raid guild. There are sometime pickup lab raids but they are rare and have much lower chance of getting through than a raid guild has.Death Toll access quest. Some people might disagree with me on this since you will not be able to kill the 4 dragons you need for the final access but the first 3 quests in this line are in instances and give decent rewards. Now for the meat. Instances instances instances. You need to be hitting as many of this as often as you can. If your gear is as bad as you claim there are tons of drops that will be upgrades. Nest has the gloves that drop of the named at the end. They are not great and you can get better but they are more than likely going to be upgrades. Also the crafted gear in nest might net you an upgrade if you bring someone who can make the item. Den is a good zone there are plate gloves which are about the same as the ones from nest that drop off one of the first names. More importantly light and dark chitin rings drop off the queen. Light Chitin is the best tank ring in the game if you are planning to tank you should have 2 of them. I personally like to have one of each because the dark lacks in mitigation but makes up in resists and stats. But if you are tanking then Mit is king so 2 lights is the way to go. PoA has the awakened Scale lord gear that drops which is good stuff. HoF Dracomic Grimoaire and some nice boots from Sothis. Septimus drops a pretty nasty looking sheild which is not too bad though if you have grizzlefazzle shield then it is junk. Which reminds me grizzlefazzle shield is pretty easy to get as well and would be a major upgrade. The best non-raid sheild in the game. All said and done you should be able to hit about 4800 Mitigation without any raid gear. I'm just short of 5K but I have a few raid drops that bring that up so I can say for sure that 4800 is do able without raiding and I would suggest you make that your target.Oh yeah and Mark of Awakening is a good quest as well. The end part is a raid but again there are often pickup raids for trial 4 so this should not be an issue and trail 4 really is easy to do.Ok I keep thinking of more things. Vault has the acid etched necklace which along with a necklace I saw in SoS are the only ones I know of with + mit on them. Also the end boss in vault drops class helms which are pretty good. Though you should do the Class helm quest as that one is better and even compaired to the Relic helm is actually up for debate as to which is better and I could argue both ways.If you really want some good gloves then get 2 groups and hit Court (T6 raid zone) you should be able to do most of it with 2 groups of level 70 people pretty easy. The Gem Encrusted Gauntlets that drop there are really nice in fact I don't think there is a non-raid drop in T7 that is better than them or even close for that matter.Oh and the biggest item how could I forget Curaiss of Protection. Drops in Blackscale though you will more than likely need a chanter to be able to spawn the named that drops it. But this is a common drop in fact the other night when in there doing DT access the named dropped two of them for us. But outside of the Black lotus BP CoP is the best tank BP in the game. Infact the Black Lotus has the same mitigation but the extra stats and resists are what make it better.<div></div>

Actually the CoP has about 100 more mitigaion, and +6 parry / defense on it...so defense wise it's by far the best BP in the game....but I still wear Black Lotus, because I refuse to wear the CoP anymore (other then rarely against orange mobs, if I need a boost), just on principle.<div></div>

Did they nerf black lotus? It should have 674 Mitigation on it which is exactly the same as CoP when you add in the + vs melee. I figured the extra stats and resists would more than make up for the + defense since it seems just about everything has + defense or + parry so they are not to hard to cap from what I can see.Personally I think they should nerf CoP something that easy to get should not be the best BP in the game. Take off about half the + vs melee and it would be in line with where it should be.<div></div>

Wow so the entire risk vs reward thing has been thrown out the window with BPs. Which I can understand with say boot or maybe gloves because while they are just as important they tend to have less focus on them. The BPs really need to have a risk vs reward set up that shows how hard the best BP is to get.I guess we can hope that EoF will fix some of this.<div></div>

Best mitigation bp (other then CoP) in KoS is the Blood Ember Breastplate from Venekor in HoS. Now sure if Chel'drak drops a BP, but I am guessing it would be around this mitigation (590ish), since the Chel'drak leggings are around there.<div></div>

I think the Guantlets of Glorious Speed drop in Trail 2 of the MOA quest.. pretty nice gloves with the 22% haste on em and decent mit.. 410 I think.. <div></div>

When it gets to be what CoP costs now I think I will grab one.</P> <P>I wear the HoF BP and am debating on wether or not to sell my CoP.... wish I could see the stats before making such decisions, especially because the CoP is so highly recommended.</P>

COP is __far__ better than the HOF BP for tanking. COP is better than most fabled BP. Do not sell your COP unless you are mitigation capped. Even then dont sell it, its your backup.<div></div>

Even then dont sell it, its your backup.<div></div><hr></blockquote>Mit cap? You mean 80% Mit vs level 70 mobs? That is great if you are fighting mobs that are level 70 or lower but not all mobs are 70 or lower. I've been thinking about this a bit. And if I had to guess I would say mobs ignore 5-10% per level over your level. So to play it safe lets say 10% so a level 75 mob will ignore 50% of your mitigation right off the bat. So figure you need 130% to get to the 80% cap so 130x75=9750 So I think as long as you have not hit this number your mitigation will be useful. Even if we take the low end at 5% you would need to hit 105x75=7875 So unless you are able to break 7K fully buffed I would say keep your CoP.</div>

For the non raider - Biggest suggestion - DO THE CLAYMORE QUESTLINE. Buy Curiass of Protection - possibly Glorious gaunlets of speed (i believe). Both have great mit and bonuses and are the next idea above claymore quest armor. Im sitting at about 4300 mit with full claymore line (minus end reward) armor, and have only bought those two adjustments for my mit. I dont have the time to raid at all (thank you medschool <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) but I find that I am a VERY viable tank even on a raid. But to be honest, claymore questline gives some nice plate rewards to the non-raider. As everyone else said, blackscale sepulcher, HoF, Den, all have great drops but personally rather than farming those, I'd do claymore. Its tedious, but you will rack in AAs and some great armor, save the raiding for relic pieces I suppose (as a time issue i dont even get to do that!). But you can get about 4300 mit easy self buffed with the right non raid gear. Anything higher than that, and please tell me where to go find it! My guess is it'll be in a raid.Good luck Pallies! Wish I could be on playin with you more.` <div></div>

The gauntlets of glorious speed are from trial 1, although it seems reasonable to think they can also drop from trial 2. The scalelord actually has slightly better mitigation, but the haste more than makes up for it.I am not familiar with "Acid Fleck Necklace, Vaults." Would that be from Korgo at the end, who also drops the hats, or from the rare named on the second floor?Incidentally, what do you think of the vaults hat vs. the hooloo hat? Hooloo has about 1% better mitigation against a level 70 enemy, but the helm of valor from the vaults has a chance to heal you on every hit. I think the pobability averages out to favor the helm of valor from the vaults unless the enemy is hitting reliably around 1k+ per hit (0.05 x 205 / 0.01), in which case the low level of the hooloo hat might come into play. <div></div>

<DIV>Hey everyone-</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ill just add my 2 cents here for those who are just coming into the T7 levels. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Number one- Do the claymore quest line, when you hit 58 start doing this quest. Yes it is long and boring but the rewards are nice.</DIV> <DIV>While working on claymore I would also suggest hitting up grizzfazzle in the Bonemire, youll have to go to the den to complete this quest but the shield is fantastic-the only ones that are better are the dragonic deflector from labs and arguably the qeynos guard from claymore. Also the end mob in Den drop LIGHT chitin ring-I would recommend using 2 of these ( I do)</DIV> <DIV>Do the class helm quest.</DIV> <DIV>HOF has a really nice set of plate boots called dark majectic sabatoons-They drop off of stothis i think and are a bit better then what drops in POA.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Speaking of POA- THIS AREA IS YOUR FRIEND. Lots of quests here and both dragons drop scalelord armor. I would recommend wearing the legs, forearms and gloves from this area as the boots from HOF shoulders from claymore, class helm are all better than these.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, at 70 you can do MOA quest which is really nice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From my experience this is the best you can do non raid. If you raid there is no doubt that you should be doing labs and lycem as much as possible as you can get relic drops from both and both have some really nice gear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, as my final thoughts. Mitigation is not everything. In a group your mit will be about 4-600 points higher depending on what your group is made up of. I would use the remaining slots to get some nice wrists that have good resist gear and stats. In the claymore line you get a bracelet with +30 to every stat and +7 to defense- that thing is sweet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well guys good luck I love this class and ill be here from time to time to share whats out there</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Statik </DIV> <DIV>Your friendly neighbourhood tank! </DIV>
