<div></div><u><b>Objective:</b></u> To be an option in raid tanking.<u><b>Server:</b></u> I play on Venekor, which is a PvP server, because of this there are few plate tanks and Guardians are a rare breed.  It's going to come down to Zerker vs Paladin for tankage.<b><u>Level:</u></b> 54 at the moment, I hope to be 56 by the end of the weekend.<u><b>Raid Content:</b></u> My guild hasn't started raiding full time yet, but we have plans in the future to do so, right now it will mostly be T6 content.<u><b>AA Line:</b></u>  Right now I'm 4-4-4-1 in the Stamina line, I want to finish off the STA line then I'm torn between the STR and INT line.  I like the healing and spell casting in the INT line, but the increase hate gain in the STR line is something that I have to keep an eye on.<u><b>Gear:</b></u>Chest- Kulcath's Searing Breastplate 343 Mit, 50 HP/Power, 12 STR, 8 STA/AGI, 357 Heat/MagicLegs- Cobalt Vanguard Greaves 403 Mit, 34 HP/Power, 14 STR/INT, 300 Cold/PoisonShoulders- Cobalt Vanguard Spaulders 376 Mit, 34 HP/Power, 14 STA/WIS, 300 Cold/HeatHelm- Jailor's Helm of Intimidation 307 Mit, 40 HP/Power, 12 STR/WIS, 245 MagicForearms- Drillmaster's Vambraces 295 Mit, 45 HP/Power, 12 STR/WIS, 6 STA, 235 MentalGuantlets- Cobalt Vanguard Guantlets 319 Mit, 45 HP/Power, 12 STR/AGI/STA, 171 Cold/Heat, 114 Divine/MentalBoots-  Boots of the Thyrian Patrol 307 Mit, 40 HP/Power, 8 STR/STA, 12 AGI, 245 Heat, 1 ParryWaist- Flowing Black Silk Sash 36 HP/Power, 8 STR/AGI, 6 WIS, 270 Divine, 225 MentalRange- Vanadium Symbol 20 WIS, 60 HP/Power, 57 Cold/Disease/Divine/Heat/Magic/Mental/Poison/Crushing/Piercing/Slashing2 Handed Weapon- Cobalt [Removed for Content] Sword 62.1 DMG Rating, 75 HP, 51 Power, 14 STR/AGI, 15 STA1 Handed Weapon- Ebon Longsword 38.5 DMG Rating, 36 HP, 32 Power, 7 STR, 6 AGI, 4 WIS, 3 INTShield- Shiny Brass Shield 810 Protection, 50HP, 19 Power, 11 STR, 10 STANeck- Vanadium Torque 40 HP/Power, 18 STR/STA/AGIEar- Pearl Noxious Stud 60 HP/Power, 513 Disease/Poison/DivineRing 1- Pearl Ring of Wisdom 40 HP/Power, 18 STA/WIS/INTRing 2- Vanadium Band of Stamina 40 HP/Power,  18  STR/STA/AGI Wrist 1- Pearl Bracelet 40 HP/Power, 18 STA/WIS/INTWrist 2- Vanadium Bangle 40 HP/Power, 18 STR/STA/AGICharm 1- Linen Hex Doll 12 STACharm 2- Linen Hex Doll 12 STA<u><b>Stats as of right now:</b></u><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b353/Cook1/NewPicture.jpg">As of right now I rarely switch to my 1HS/Shield because I like my [Removed for Content] Sword so much.  My guild is in the process of doing Prismatics and I've been going back and forth of if I want to take the 2H or 1H.  My original Plan was to get the Prismatic 2HS then get the Blade of the Bixie's (LOVE the look of it) and go with either the Sundergard or Aegis of Scorn.  Which seems like the best route in that respect? My gear right now is pretty good, but what should I be looking for in terms of upgrades?  I know the fabled helm from the Roost, but what else from there?  Questable gear is fine as well since I do enjoy to do quests. The AA line question was asked above, torn between INT and STR for that one.Besides taunts, which spells/skills should I look into Adept III's?Any other areas to focus on to obtain the objective?<div></div><p>Message Edited by Kaleyen on <span class=date_text>06-30-2006</span> <span class=time_text>06:24 PM</span>

If you are going to be the tank for your guilds raids. Then I would suggest getting all cobalt armor to start off with. You can upgrade with fabled later from instances. Your jewelry isn't too shabby. Ring of fate quest would be good. Any jewelry you can get with mitigation is a plus. Cobalt tablet for ranged item isn't too bad either.. it has mitigation on it. In addition to the helm from the roost, there is also a good shield from there. Poets palace has an even better shield, and also a nice fabled 1 handed sword that drops. Cazels mesa has some decent pants and a bracer that drop from there. This advice would go really for either pally or zerker, except for the ranged cobalt thing lol. My 2cp: STR > INT for tanking, it gives you better hate, recharge reduction, and haste.  The final STR ability for 10% reduction is great, it effects items, necro shards, etc....your taunts fire off noticably quicker.  I MT alot and went 4-4-4-5-8 STA and 4-4-4-4-8 STR. The absolutely necessary abilities to upgrade are defensive stance, both taunts and shield bash, Amends, all heals and ward.  After those I'd say all AOEs as that's our damage and a hu8ge help in multi encounter aggro.  If you are going to spend time raiding and exploring content in the 50-60 range, go raid Al Afaz and Gates they have alot of easy to obtain plate drops. If you are going to power up to 70 make sure you get Cuirass of Protection from Blackscale, Chitin rings from Devourer Den, Awakened Scalelord for other slots, and definately do the class hat quest amd claymore quests.  For tier 7 raids Labs of Vyemm is a candyland of loot for all classes, and you can tank the zone at 70 in just legendary gear. <div></div>

Thanks for all the replies...Question, I've heard about "Claymore" quests, but where do I get them?  Or what's the name of the quest so I can look it up?<div></div>

The claymore quests start in your home city. In Qeynos they start in NQ in irontoes I think? It is called "In her majesties secret service" The quest line is long and involved, and the first portion is in TT/Sanctum of the scaleborn. There is some decent rewards for it as well along the way. <DIV>AA line question : Int > Str. everyone can argue otherwise but to be honest its not. ive tanked EVERY mob in t7(minus new x4 in Fallen Dynasty and just by experience the 10pct doesnt help that much. the boost u get from the spell crits maxed helps your dps so much it gives you more hate then that actually does. plus you can do nice dps when not in the tanking position which will be often im sure if have a zerker.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>ive messed with every aa set up you could imagine, and in my opinion, sta: 4 4 8 8, and int: 4 4 8 8 is teh win.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Spells(to lazy to type actual name of spells):</DIV> <DIV>1. def stance</DIV> <DIV>2. single taunt</DIV> <DIV>3. aoe taunt</DIV> <DIV>4. shield bash</DIV> <DIV>5. amends( i hope u already have this one tho)</DIV> <DIV>6. Sigil (same as amends)</DIV> <DIV>7. after that. id start with all your aoe that do damage first, single target aggro control should be much easier for you then it will be with multiple mobs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thats all assuming your tanking and want aggro and stuffs. ward/heal are also quite nice. just depends on what u want/and do in group/raid</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also i wouldnt waist money on adept3s until 67+ just grind through the lower lvls and save cash.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sorry if i repeated what somebody else said. didnt read any replies.</DIV>
