Hey guys, I am a level 15 Shadowknight and I am wondering if I should betray and become a paladin. I heard that shadowknights and somewhat gimped and not-wanted in end-game raids is this true? Also, are paladins fun at all?

Thanks in advance for all of your wonderful insight. :smileyvery-happy:

I'm not quite sure how to answer your question but..I have enjoyed playing a paladin ever since EQ 2's launch. We get a lot of perks, thats for sure, but I like to call it the best and worst of both worlds. We are the class that takes hits from a mob. The class that heals a comrade in danger of death just to give the priest enough time to "catch up" on heals. I myself feel a lot of responsibility for my group/raid member's survival.I usually don't go as main tank for raids, so therefore in that situation I feel more inclined to help with heals against some of the more beefier dps/aoe crazy epics out there. I find myself helping with group heals/direct heals a lot, and feel I am making a difference in if we will defeat our target or not sometimes. Do I have fun? The answer is yes.. I enjoy playing my games to the extreme. Being a fighter/healer class gives me just that. Its a constantly changing role. You can always look at it in this perspective. You are lvl 15, not very far into the game level wise. You can always just roll a new character and try out being a paladin. Switch between the two and see which you like best. If you are attached to the character you currently play or just want to do the betrayal, I wish you luck. Qeynos is a much better city than dirty old Freeport anyways. As for shadow knights being not wanted in the end-game raids. Thats just another person who complains about everything is wrong with their class in my opinion. I can't give you much insight to how shadow knights are in the end-game as I don't play one, and we haven't had many in our guild show up for raids often enough for me to learn their pros and cons yet.I hope this helps, if you need anything else specific answered feel free to ask. :smileyhappy:

Message Edited by TheManInTheBox on 06-21-2006 02:53 AM

They can Feign death a player for 20 seconds, wiping the agro from those pesky warlocks and other dps mad players. They are the only fighter class that can hit a mob with a large physical mitigation buff besides their disease buff. Their Damage shield ward damages the mob and heals them for each hit a mob does. Their essence spell summons a nice dps pet for 30 seconds. They have group Evac spell and a AOE power drain/regen spell that helps give them back power. They share our pledge of arnament line so that in current raids with our guild we always put the shadowknight in the MT group over a paladin. With pallies have wards cross raid and our single target anf lay on hand heals cross raid, pallies can be more effective in off tank groups helping out wizards and warlocks and other agro challenged players... They also increase your agro generation by a chunk a few LU's ago so dont believe all the hype about shadowknights being worthless....
