I don't know about you, but my squire, both for my Paladin AND my Shadowknight, always turns up male when I cast it.

This has been going on for weeks now, and I have never seen anyone mention it. Not that I mind, though; just seems a bit strange that it is ALWAYS male, through multiple zonings and recastings.

But it does reek that SoE won't let me put my buff on them anymore. Mine is named Useless, and for good reason.

Nope, I didn't notice that but I think I know why... like you said naming them "useless" is approprate. :smileyvery-happy:

I noticed lately I have been getting only male squires. First I thought maybe it was just an odd streak. But seeing as you have mentioned it. I would guess itssomething that got changed somehow with the spell's code to determine a male or female model for the squire when you summon one.

hmm, I'll need to look, haven't actually brought my squire out in ages, should probably let it out to strech the legs some

To be honest I think it should only be male as historically this would be correct:

"The English word squire comes from the Old French escuier (modern French écuyer), itself derived from the Late Latin scutarius - "shield bearer." The Classical Latin equivalent was armiger 'arms bearer'.

A squire was originally a young man who aspired to the rank of knighthood and who, as part of his development to that end, served an existing knight as his attendant or shield carrier (hence the name). However, during the middle ages the rank of esquire came to be recognized in its own right and, once knighthood ceased to be conferred by any but the monarch, it was no longer to be assumed that any esquire would in due course progress to be a knight. The connection between a squire and any particular knight also ceased to exist, as did any shield carrying duties.

An Esquire or Squire then became nothing more than the holder of a certain social rank or status."

Hmm I got a female one not long ago - it MIGHT have to do with what you name it - I change the name of mine often. maybe??

Might have got stealth fixed. I'll check and see if I can get a female squire when I can log back on and give an update.

I have rarely summoned Patsy, but he has always been a he recently.l I did notice the other day when I summoned all my pets, that when I entered combat, Patsy drew his sword and looked menacing. He didn't do anything else. But I dont remember him drawing a weapon before, I though he just hung out looking relaxed.

Maybe I just never really paid any attention after I realized that he served no purpose at all. Not even as fluff. Kinda sad really. They could at least make him go through attack sequences, just not deal damage to make him look like part of the battle, or if he's an arms bearer, give him a slot or two to carry things for me, and he shows up with the gear strapped on him or something.

Oh well, its just a dream.

Wyldric

LOL, no more female squires... that's going to make camping mobs a whole lot more boring :smileywink:

My squires name.... SirRobin... as in "Sir brave robin ran away away..." the only thing he/she is good for is watching me die.

Yeah, I've summoned my squires numerous times now. I feel my paladin's sex appeal has been nerfed. No women are signing up to be my squire anymore. SOE how could you hurt us so bad like this? :smileysad: Will it at least be fixed by LU 25? Please say so!
