I am thinking about making a Paladin on a pvp server and I am wondering if there are any classes that fear a paladin. Say there is a paladin and a different class.. are there any that would run from the paladin because they know they cant win anyways? Also... What does a paladin run from? Thanks.<div></div>

<DIV>You're good, and hard to kill, but you wont land many kills. We got no root/snare and one dot. Its hard for me to grief greys because if they get one step ahead of you... you'll never catch them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In group vs group pvp I use sigil, consecrate, and all my AE's. It makes me a superstar. Taunts are also clutch for obvious reasons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Seriously go be a ranger or a wizard. They have monsterous killing power and the absurdly annoying evac button. You'll do more damage which is what 5/6ths of the group is responsible for doing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I suppose in an arena fight where its toe to toe you'd be in the top 5, but out in the open where they can run its a suck fest for pallies.</DIV>

<P>I am so disappointed with my Paladin in PvP. It's awful. I haven't found Sigil or Consecrate on my server so I don't have those. Basically I try to not get noticed and just heal the PvP classes.</P> <P>Taunts are a great thing to have in PvP but they only last 3 seconds. All fighters have a secondary taunt ability that helps them hold aggro in PvP just like PvE, except Paladin. Our Redemption line gives our target a 5% chance to proc a taunt from us on the attacker. Worthless.</P> <P>My favorite thing to hear is, "But you have plate armor!" There are only a handful of combat arts that deal physical damage, and that's what plate armor protects against. Everything else is Poison and Disease (Necro, Shadowknight, Assassin, Brigand).</P> <P>To sum up - no classes will fear you. It is possible to win in a 1:1 fight but very difficult due to our low damage. There is plenty of time for your opponent to just walk away and you can't do anything about it. If you want to play a tank go Monk or Berserker. If you want a good PvP class go Swashbuckler or Ranger. Anything with tracking and evac will win.</P><p>Message Edited by Vathranen on <span class=date_text>06-01-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:27 PM</span>

this thread made me laugh. i wont go into great detail about it because in this respect i wont share my pvp knowledge and i wouldnt want ot bore you anyways. suffice to say a paladin will kick the living [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] out of an SK 1:1 if harm touch is down. a win every time. if harm touch is up, still not difficult to maintain high enough hp so he cant use it to finish you at half health. on the other hand, paladins get owned by berserkers. it takes more than mashing buttons to be good at pvp.

PVP servers are still prety new and as such ppl dont have all the skills / gear they could get on a PVE server. For instance my lvl 68 paly is still missing alot of Adept1 skills from 50+ not even going into how many (few) master1/adept3 i have. For instance the highest lvl alchie on our server on Q side is only lvl 58. On our server you will see ppl runing around in Awakening plate gear (ordinary chest droped one) and still using some lower lvl HQ item or a fabled lvl 40 piece. If you put all that together i think paladins as such do relly on having good gear and upgraded skills and in this stage of PVP servers you just dont have that. There are some things you have to get prepared on the pvp server:1. you are not a solo PVP class -> you could kill a caster / scout if they stood there but they will avoid you and you have no way of catching up to them2. you WILL get your [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] handed to you against some lower lvl classes (Bruisers, Furys...)3. you WILL shine in group pvp -> when you tme your taunts and group stuns right the other group is just lost4. be ready to die alot to some unfair PVPOne solution is to make a ranger alt and just go kill 10 Freeporters every time you die just to get some revenge coz you as a paladin will never go back there to take revenge when getting solo ganked!<div></div>

Yeah, about the whole running away thing, we used to be able to pull out a little bit of damage but then they decided that we have to be planted in one spot to cast any spell. Who remembers when we could cast our ward on the run? I miss that...<span>:smileysad:</span><div></div>

<DIV>In answer to the title question, a grouped yellow after beating on me while I killed his healer, a solo yellow that ran after one stun, a white solo, and pretty much anyone I engaged. Why won't you stand and die?</DIV>

Paladins and PVP don't mix to well in reality. On paper the heals, wards, stuns ect.. look good, but in feild test they are not really all that. Why? Well, scout classes are also debuff classes.. they also just happen to debuff all the stuff paladins have to use to survive, namely mitigation. Pretty much every class is going to own you pretty hard except for shadow knights and beserkers. Beserkers have no way to heal, and once they bust their load on you and you hit LOH it's over for them. Shadow Knights kind of suck if you have high disease resist which most people do in a t7 setting. Guardians will genrally own you pretty good because with AA's they can normally OD you pretty badly and way out last you with their mit / hp buffs. Now, while Zerks fall at the hands of a Paladin, they are over all better for pvp.. they have the high cold resist and rarely will you run into something tanky and able to bust off a 4k+ heal. You'll rip up mages, scouts, healers, and most fighters.. guardian v.s. zerk i've seen it go both ways. I think it depends on what kind of AA setup each one has and equipment. Guardians are not bad pvp either with DPS aa's selected, you get stuff like double hit, mitigation debuffs and other goodies that are geared more towards the high dps of zerks. Pre AA level 40 they will not fare well. Pretty much no one is going to "run" from a paladin unless it's a mage who thinks you are a beserker. I don't think a paladin or any non-scout class other then mabey monks and brusiers can be "uber" solo PVP, but depending on your general understanding of the types of casting interupts you will be getting hit with, how to time your wards and heals with out getting interupted, when to use your interupts ect.. can definatlly up the anty. <div></div>
pally got a root/slow spell with AA..
