<DIV>Hello all, i'll try to keep this brief and to the point. Is the damage rating on weapons accurate and has anyone else noticed lower rated weapons out damaging a higher rated weapon ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I recently aquired an Ancient Velium Greatsword with a damage rating of 93.4 . I had been using a Kettle Leaders Katana with a damage rating of 85.2 . Both weapons have a damage proc on them with the KLK proc being a little better. After hundreds of parses using both weapons against the same mob type (either level 61 or 62 mobs) , the KLK had by far out damaged the AVG. On average my DPS with the KLK was about 320 and the AVG came in at about 285 dps. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does this sound odd to anyone else or am I misunderstanding the Damage rating on weapons ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any responses or insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thank you in advance,</DIV> <DIV>Droc</DIV>

>>>Both weapons have a damage proc on them with the KLK proc being a little better.<<<I don't think procs are included in the damage rating, so if you are parsing for those, you won't have valid data.<div></div>

<P>The damage proc for the KLK is 220 to 408 versus a straight 209 for the AVG . Granted, with luck , one or the other could go off in any given fight more often than the other weapon. However, to have parsed so many fights and the results being so consistent, doesn't it seem odd that the KLK is producing more damage output in a 40 second fight ? I mean, in 40 seconds it isn't proc'ing that often and the diffence in the two isn't that drastic (proc wise) . Additionally, the AVG's stats put to shame the KLK, which I would think should even make more of a difference. I'm just wondering if the thought process behind the damage rating is correct because something doesn't appear to add up. Oh also, for what it's worth, no combat arts or spells were used in any of the parsers, just straight melee (of course the weapon proc's can't be disabled). Anyway, just seems odd to me.</P> <P> </P> <P>thanks for the reply,</P> <P>Droc</P>

Damage rating is merely the damage divided by the delay. I don't know if they use an average of the damage range or what, but thats basically what the damage rating is.
