<DIV> Hi, I was looking for suggestions on weapon selection at 50. My guild started the prismatic quest line last night. But for all the hassle and in the meantime, what would be about the best 1 hand DPS i could get? Just a pristine cobalt? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> Just looking for options from older Pallies on what to keep an eye out for, before I dump 3 plat on a weapon I will soon outgrow. BTW I solo alot. Probably 80 percent of the time. Sword and board.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> Thanks for any suggestions. I really need to raise my DPS, for better aggro management and so when solo, I don't have time to get up and make a ham sandwich mid-combat.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wyldric</DIV>
<div><blockquote><hr>Walker001 wrote:<div>I really need to raise my DPS, for better aggro management and so when solo</div><div> </div> <hr></blockquote>Huh? Why would need aggro management if you're solo? The mobs are only going to hit you. Anyway, on weapon choices: You might want to check the Blood Fire, a quest reward from The Heart of Fear quest in Cazic Thule. </div>

The imbued cobalt assault axe seems pretty popular, it lasted me till 58 when I got a Sandstorm, which had a massive damage rating for a one hander (relatively).

<DIV> Kalera, thanks for the suggestion on weapon. But you cut off part of the last line there.</DIV> <DIV><BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Kalera wrote:<BR> <DIV><BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Walker001 wrote:<BR><BR> <DIV>I really need to raise my DPS, for better aggro management and so when solo<BR></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE><BR><BR>Huh? I just feel like I am doing something wrong, because of all the games I have played, the pallies in this one have the worst pve aggro management.<BR></DIV>

Pallies have fantastic aggro management. We have good single taunts, good group taunt (which doubles as divine debuff), AEs (group/encounter), and best of all AMENDS. Amends is your bread and butter as a paladin for aggro management. If you feel like you are doing something wrong it is probably because you aren't using amends right.<div></div>

Thing about pally aggro management is that it's something you have to work at constantly...I don't have problems keeping aggro except on adds, but I have to body pull, then single taunt, group taunt, ward, aoe, then start the taunts again through the whole fight.Amends helps a lot, and at 52, the Sigil of Heroism is also a big help. Weapons aren't that big of a deal for the aggro management, though, since we just don't do a ton of melee dps.For a 50's weapon for a paladin, I like the Scepter of Rhaotep. Tough in that you have to get a raid to finish the quest, but the group heal proc is nice, and it has a decent damage rating.<div></div>

Why do you need aggro control if you are solo? What does aggro control have to do with it? It sounds like you are confusing DPS and aggro in that sentence (which is why I cut it off, because it made even <i>less </i>sense with that sandwich part in there). Aggro control is about maintaining a mob's <u>attention</u>. If you are solo, then the only creature it cares about is you. You do not need aggro control solo. You don't need to taunt or anything. What am I missing here?</div>

<P> The part about the sandwich :smileyvery-happy: is that I meant dps is so low, I can just auto attack a mob and get up and leave the room. You dont even have to play when solo. Taking damage is no problem, its the dealing. The DPS part. The MOB doesnt have a chance, but its still gonna take 5 to 10 mins to kill it. Auto-attack, watch tv. over and over. The sentence was 2 parts, firstabout being MA and the remainder about soloing.</P> <P> And thanks for the above tips. I will remember to keep spamming aggro abilities all fight long. Too used to DAoC where once my Pally got aggro, it wasn't coming off unless I died. Must remember, different game, different playstyles.<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Still learning, havent been in EQ2 very long at all.</P> <P>Wyldric 50-EQ2 Lucan DLere playing currently - somewhat entertaining.</P> <P>Shaker +4 other 60's- WoW- Hellscream- retired. too [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] easy.</P> <P>Wyldric 50+6 other 50's- DAoC-Palomides-retired. Dead server, no one left to play with.</P> <P>Wyldric - UO - retired. Quit at the Split. Forever hating Trammel.</P>

Levelng from 50 to 60 takes a while so investing in a nice weapon is a good idea. (But i would invest in cobalt armor first though)Any weapon will do as imbued weapons in T6 all have the same stats. When trying to be cost efficient try to get an imbued ironwood club. (And an imbued ironwood pike for 2 hander). For the cost of 1 cobalt you can get yourself an ironwood club and an ironwood pike and an ironwood kiteshield.

For aggro control I don't think weapon matters. It is the least of your concerns when holding aggro. It's far better, at least in my opinion, to have upgraded Amends, taunts, shield bash and AE spells. The auto-attack damage you do to hold aggro is minimal compared to those other things. </div>

It'll definitely be your best option until you can work your way into the T7 material.<BR></P>

<DIV>Thanks Kalera, I do have a problem with run on sentences. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did check and most of my abilities were at app 2, or even 1. Upgraded most already to adept 1, and am trying to find alchemist for some adept 3s. Got the Rhodium for 5. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But I do have to say that last night I commissoned Pristine Imbued Cobalt longsword and it was an amazing difference compared to the poop-stick +2 or what ever I was using.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I get my abilities where they should be, I am sure I will enjoy it much more. Thanks for the patience and advice guys.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wyldric</DIV>
