Just today I bought some T2 leather armor to replace my T1 plate (there being no T2 plate and no one willing to make me chain). I saw my Mitigation value go from 100 to 300, and was happy. However, upon mousing over the value, the 'You absorb' value actually went DOWN from the armor exchange. Not much, only .2% or so, but it seems like it should have gone up quite a bit. After some experimenting, I found that adding a Sta or Str made my 'You absorb' value go up, even though Mitigation went down. How exactly does this work? *bangs head on desk*<div></div>

Only your mitigation should affect your absorb. The absorb % is based on mob level. As you go up you have to raise your mit to keep up w/ the increases in the mob level you will be fighting.<div></div>

That's what I thought, but these show otherwise <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> *really confused*Mitigation of 100: 22.6% absorbedMitigation of 300: 22.4% absorbedI experimented with a couple pieces of equiptment, and saw that adding 1 to strength and reducing mitigation made the % go up, same with stamina (up into the low 30% range), though I didn't grab screenies of those.(I am ungrouped in both, same buffs and all)<img src="http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/Solnus/mit100.jpg"><img src="http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y111/Solnus/mit300.jpg"><div></div>

<div></div>I"m also confused a lot about the mitigation infos. For example I don't undertand what the slash/pierce/crush infos means exactly. I try to improve that (it's above 5% now) but I have no idea of what it does. There is also some problem when the "general" mitigation can go down slithly when u wear a better gear of the same tier and of the same quality (plate for example). Maybe its because the game round down the values.I'm also confused about the fact that even if the mitigation of a "Tiers X" is equal to the mitigation of a "Tiers X+" you will have better protection using the "Tiers X+1" even if the game don't say so (meaning that you can't trust the mitigation value by itself). For example a guy with fabled gear of T6 would show a better mitigation (lets say 3300) than another tank equiped with treasure gear of T7 (who would have 3100 mitigation) but in fact its the guy with T7 gear that might tank better...The problem is that the game doesn't give the REAL mitigation. And I'm also wondering if you can wear armor of a different quality (lets say leather for example) than plate if they have the same or better mitigation that the usual plate items u can find. That would also give u an advantage for avoidance.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Goejun on <span class="date_text">03-30-2006</span><span class="time_text">02:12 AM</span></p>
<div>That is really strange, there should be no stat that alters your mitigation at all.</div><div> </div><div>It almost seems like the display is bugged or something - for my character the % value when I mouse over my mitigation has always been the raw number displayed divided by my level.</div><div> </div><div> </div>
