<DIV>Ok, I've been doing some /who checks on several servers and it seems that in almost every case the Paladin is the most played subclass in the fighter archtype, congratulations to you all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But I did not come here to congratulate you. I assume that since most fighters are Paladins that certainly the Paladins of the game are experienced players and I've come to ask you, the most populat fighter subclass, about bruisers who are coincidentally the most UNPOPULAR fighter subclass.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have come here to ask if the Paladins have any ideas on how to make the Bruiser subclass more popular since you clearly have an idea of whats currently the choice of most players.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am asking this in hopes that it will help the Dev's to understand why your popular and bruisers are not and hopefully influince more variation among subclasses in EQ2 so please reply constructively! Thank you.</DIV>

<DIV>There are several reasons why paladin is popular out there.  But dont get ahead of yourself because it is quickly changing. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here are a couple reasons why i chose a paladin but im pretty sure some of them will not transfer over to a bruiser.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First reason is the persona of a paladin.  Its the idea of a noble knight who goes out and does good deeds.  The idea of a knight in shining armor came to mind and is very appealing to me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The 2nd reason was the class itself.  Before playing i wasnt sure if i wanted to group that much or not so i wanted a class that was really self sufficient if need be.  So the paladin (beginning of eq2) had the heals, ranged combat arts and melee combat arts, so i could do it all in the solo game so long as i didnt bite off more than i could chew.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The 3rd reason was utility in a group.  I figured in raids i would always be needed in some way with great buff for a main tank and the combat rez, however i did always hope to become a main tank myself for a raid.  Has not happened yet, but i know paladins who can mt a raid now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Those are the main reasons and suspect its the same for many others as well but we all have our own thoughts and experiences.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Demonslayor</DIV>

If the constant whining in the Guardian forum is to be believed, Bruisers are now the best tanks in the game with top-tier DPS. People will be coming in droves.

<DIV>I have been a paladin in pretty much every mmorpg out there in the last 10 years. You will find that the majority of us are true to our class and all it represents. Picking paladin for me is more than a character. It is everything that surrounds the paladin. However, we may be the most popular class but it is only due to the name. As a class we have many weaknesses that have been acknowledged by SOE and they just don't fix them.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The bruiser class is very high DPS and a decent tank. One of the down sides of the class is that it is FP based which has virtually no economy on any server. The bruiser class will be exploding in numbers very shortly due to the current combat system.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bruisers solo extremely well and add a great deal to any group. This should be true for the paladin and we used to be able to effectively solo but this is no longer the case. Also, it is a very good thing to be in one of the lesser played classes. It is really easy to find gear and spells.</DIV>

<P>I agree that the bruisers are quickly becoming a very popular class.  I know in my case that I didn't choose the Paladin for any specific utility.  I've been playing a Paladin since the days of paper and dice d&d.  So the class in itself has a long history in the role playing world.</P> <P> </P>
