depends on the level range you are talking about ...

depends on level range and what you want to be able to do. personally, im extremely happy with where the paladin is right now.

The only real problem I see with paladins is we have problems controlling aggro when we either have lots of groups, or you have a few high DPS classes in group. We need more aggro pulling power.

We need more aggro pulling power.

Huh? What level are you? What quality are your taunts? At 52, with Adept 3 amends & zealous preaching + all the other tools we get, holding aggro is one problem I don't have, even when I'm grouped with a wizzie that likes to lob 5k nukes.

Have to agree. At lvl54 with a lvl56 wizzie, lvl56 mystic and lvl57 ranger in our regular group (and hell stick the 51 necro in for good measure on occasion) unless we pull multiple groups and the mystic starts spam healing one of the DPS, I have no problem keeping aggro off all of them. I do have master 1s on both single and group taunts but only adept 1 on the amends too.

About the only thing that upsets me is the constant interupts and stuns that mean I can't get a skill off. Happens way too often especially on the longer casting skills (ward is the main one) which is silly as its not like our focus is out of whack with our level. We use TS most of the time, so if I do get stunned I'll just say so and either get a dispel or everyone calms down for a sec, but many people don't have that luxury.

Won't go into how demoralising it is to play with classes that are so much fun (with the exception of the mystic) now that the pally is reduced to the stun, ward, taunt routine. Maybe the new stance change on test will give us back some of our beloved dps, who knows.

I am level 60 with all master I and Adept III spells. As for a 5k nuke... thats nothing. I group with a wizard that hits for 8k easy all the time. Add a ranger into the mix and you got insane DPS. Like I said.. 1 group or 1 mob is not a problem, its when you have multiple groups, or multiple DPS classes. However it has been mentioned on this and other forums a few of our higher level taunts actually cancel aggro gaining skills we have, so our higher stuff is bugged and causes aggro loss.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=10&message.id=17653

Message Edited by RobleeS on 10-19-2005 06:27 AM

From what ive seen pallys are amazing ATM, was in a grp last night with a good friend pally and 2 wizzys and monk (1 wiz is me ) NO HEALER, and we were taking ^^^ heroics 4 lvls above us , pally was tanking and healing himself , everyone else was dpsing , he NEVER lost aggro (also pulling grps of 4-5 no arrow heroics) I dont think any class could have possibly done a better job , note pally had no adept III's and only training master II's

Controlling aggro is a team effort. If the DPS classes start out unloading before taunts have been used they will pull. For those having problems get adept3s made for your taunts. Use AoE nukes. Ward yourself. and tell the DPSers to slow down at the begining.

Controling Agro is a lot easier than it was - but it by no means certain. One ouf our best tool for that at the moment is actually our AoE attacks. I cast them every time they ungrey - since they are not group bound they help a LOT with the additional groups. If I can't cast them (such as mobs below that are not agro but you may hit them) I allways call out: "No AoE". 9/10 they are amazing for holding that agro - only thing you have to watch our for is if you have a warlock in the group.

The multiple group issue is worse at lower levels. But I don't see that as a problem, so much as a reason to bring a chanter. Cheers, Tooraloom

agro is one of the easiest things to manage for me as a pally now...as long as i get a hit in on all the mobs (even across multiple groups) and a group taunt on each group i'm golden, that is if people [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ist me (which they should be doing anyways, or at least pounding on the group i'm burning down) and i toss out another group taunt every time it resets...getting a hit in is key tho, you have to be able to get their attention with some damage to really root the hate...

only types that give me trouble is scouts, and it's usually not a big deal if they use the evade line of CAs when they do pull agro...wizzies and such aren't a problem...

i think the pallys got some good lovin with the revamp, much more of a viable tank now, and actually are sought after as a MT more...the divine/magic/mental damage resists rock...half the time i don't even get affected by magical attacks, and if i do it's not by much (but i made sure to buff the hell out of my wis and magic type resists)

the only problem i have is the blessed aid line - could be a little bit stronger or have the recast lowered on it a little...other than that it's pretty nice now...and i'm glad flatedge twirl heals the group again...

i don't really care if we can use ranged weapons since the omen of battle and RoG lines do just that...

Message Edited by g0thiCiCecReaM on 10-26-2005 01:41 PM
