Wow... i can't beleive you forgot the high elf. To me that is the best choice for Paladin. More wisdom, best choice.

<DIV>Ogre (which would require you doing the Betrayal quest)...or Barbarian.  Paladins need hitpoints and those 2 have the most Stamina, which grants you HP.</DIV>

Personally i chose Dwarf. The stats are pretty balanced for a fighter and also have alittle extra wisdom for that alittle extra power(and with this upgrade, the ability to resist spells). Sure being short isn't really fun but thats what petrified eyes and the mask of the deciever is for =)

You have strange views on beauty, kinsman. I am a dwarven paladin, and I would never -ever- use petrified eyes to hide my race, let alone the Guise of the Deceiver, which turns me into an elf, and an inky one at that. The only illusion I would consider using at times is the Splitpaw gnoll, but then, gnolls are creatures of Brell just like we are. Seriously now, stat-wise after the upcoming revamp human will be the best paladin race, as it has balanced stats and the paladin needs all stats to a roughly equal amount now. But it really does not matter much, all differences can be balanced with equipment. <div></div>

Being a high elf with over 200 stamina self buffed i am rather happy that i have more wisdom than starting stamina. Also to note that wisdom grants higher resistance with tomorows upcomming expansion. And i look very sexy.

As of the latest changes in the revamp, the soft cap is 7 times your level (350 for 50's).

<P>The mid to end game has proven to me that an extra 15ish points to a stat here or there makes basically no difference. It's totally a cosmetic and emotional choice IMO. The only thing I'd add is, research the race traits as well as the base stats. Many times you'll find your race has an affinity to certain things (like crafting styles) that you'd wished you'd know to begin with.</P> <P>...oh and evil races (for you folks just rolling a new toon) give you some variety but you'll have to to the trudge through that [Removed for Content] betrayal quest.</P><p>Message Edited by Excalibre3377 on <span class=date_text>09-13-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:25 PM</span>

I think they changed the traits and traditions, but picking races with the +5 defense ability was nice, as that's a free level's worth of defense. Barbarians have it, as do ogres and humans I think. Barbarians also get crushing and slashing resists, which are nice things to have but not game breaking. <div></div>

<DIV>What matters is what race gives you the most fun.  I find the humour of bantering with another race is more fun than a very marginal benefit in stats, and so is the feeling of playing a toon with real character.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I chose a Ratonga, and I've found it great fun.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>* A good Rat/Mouse fits in with some fantasy literature (as in Redguard, and CS Lewis's Voyage of the Dawntreader).</DIV> <DIV>* I can banter with Kerrans (Tom and Jerry style)</DIV> <DIV>* I can banter with Shadow Knights (deriding them as serfs of Lucan "The Pompous One")</DIV> <DIV>* Ratongas have a mischievous reputation, which is a great antedote to a class with a reputation for being worthy, but dull.  After all, why can't a noble champion of good also have a wicked sense of humour?  After an onslaught of banter, I even had one Shadow Knight suggest I was really a natural Shadow Knight (as if !!).</DIV> <DIV>* The Betrayal Quest, though it takes time, provides a wonderful basis for a backstory.  If you want, you can round your character out with a sense of guilt over the evil things he/she did in Freeport, and some resentment at the racism shown by some NPC's in Qeynos.  You can also make up a fictitious good Ratonga community, destroyed in the cataclysm, which explains your good inclinations.</DIV> <DIV>* And a high agility doesn't hurt for a tank.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The only thing I regret is my choice of the sunglasses option for the face.  It looked fun at the time (as in "Three Blind Mice"), but it makes the Ratonga face less expressive.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Jonh, Ratonga Paladin 36, Antonius Bayle</DIV>
