<DIV>i heard that pallys will be losing the ability to rez people all together in the next big battlesystem update! this is so wrong, at least half of the reason i became a pally (currently lvl 49) was because of the rez/heals.  If they do this it would be so wrong, has any other class just had a spell taken away from them? I don't recall I do know i had a taunt that i got at like 22 and then they took it away tell i hit something in my 40's.  Make it a lvl 50 spell if they like but don't just take it away.  Does it really effect things number 1 it's out of combat and number 2 is there any class out there that is going to complain that we can rez? i think not because adding an additional rezer especially one who can actually take some dammage to a group is always a good thing.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Has anyone else heard of this ? i also heard pallys on the test server don't have rez rt now...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>anyone else heard this? would starting a list of people who want it to be left in help if it were long enough? </DIV>

<DIV>I heard we are losing Battle Rez, not nec all rez but who knows.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are alleged to be major heal improvements including heal over time ect.  But who know for sure.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would be suprised if Pally lost Rez, however, with rez stones and feathers, it is not as important as it was in eq1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I also heard the sky was falling. But it turned out it was only the dewpoint condensation layer. We got wet, but we lived to fight another day. <div></div>

It sounds like this big combat revamp is going to be wildly unpopular. It would be great if SOE could somehow coincide these changes with a big content release that would take people's minds off of the changes and possibly bring back old customers that wouldn't question the changes and accept them as the status quo...

<P>I've heard several people from the beta server saying things like "I really dont know what role paladin will have in raids after the combat update". Taking away our rez would definetly confuse our role. Well if they do take rez away, wich is the biggest influence my class has in the success of raids, then SOE doesn't deserve any more of my money. They cant just strip a huge ability like our rez away, it has defined our role in raids.</P> <P>DDO will be released soon after the expansion. I'm looking more forward to it than ever, especially after reading this thread.</P>

SoE's policy on trying to keep a lid on the impact of these changes is counter productive. Sure they can clamp down on any speculation here, but it doesnt stop word leaking out elsewhere. And whether such rumours are accurate or not they lead to Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt: hardly something to encourage. Yet thats whats been inspired by the off the cuff and often contridictory snippets of infomation that we have. Its understandable that SoE dont want the forums ablaze with arguments over every slight developement as is implimented on the Beta server, but surely they have some kind of design document they could release? Something which states the general nature of a subclasses abilities, and the intended roles they can fill in a group and on a raid. Surely SoE have such for internal use, so that all the designers and devs are on message. Would it not be worth taking a couple of hours to dress such up for release to the players? <div></div>

I hope it's not true ofcoz. People spent days and months on their character and then it feels wrong to take away certain abilities in favor of a giant combat revamp. Imo, I buy a game and play it coz I like it, I understand that sometimes there have to be made some changes to some of our abilities to keep better balance, but not to the extend where it changes my character drastically by simply removing abilities. But, the fact is, SOE will change it if they think it's needed for the new combat system. I have no doubt about that. You either love it or hate it, you play or you leave, that's the SOE mentality imo. <div></div>

I guess our Battle Rez must be game breaking or something......because in a raid, we all know how important out of combat rez's are...... Well they are important, but at that point the raid is wiped, so that makes sense. More and more I see my money going to another company after hearing about this revamp that nobody asked for. MG's post states - to make the game more challenging etc....well what about people who don't want that (not saying I am one of those people, but let's be honest there is a % of people who would not prefer to make the game more challenging)... In the end, it was said that this game would not be tailored to the high end raiding guilds like EQ1 was, but these changes are being made because of them...hmmm that sounds correct /rollsEyes So not only did the uber power guilds get to farm instances, and prismatics for metal since December/January without changes being made until later, but now since the game can be trivialized by some of them, let's change it for everyone. Let me be the first to say, that unless these changes make it so a class I have played since December are actually needed on raids to TANK (since our dps is going to hell) or have some other needed ability that doesn't include priest-lite (since it seems we are being tailored more towards healing) that I will be canceling my Station Access account....not just my EQ2 account. <div></div>

BTW - I know we have some high end guilds represented on this board....my posts aren't against anyone in particular, and I am in a guild that raids everyday, but to me it seems like it is the truth none the less...

hey ... i'm from a high end guild.  but i totally agree with you.  everytime i do CL these days, i think ... gosh, this used to be a training raid.  how the heck to guilds that are just starting out do this? i think the rebalancing is gonna hurt the guys who are just making it up to 50 alot more than it's gonna hurt those of use who have a MT who is basically unhittable.  i mean, how hittable could they possibly make him with out nerfing the guard that just turned 50 to all hell.  unless they just put stupid caps on things, which will really mean uber-50s will have nothing to do, cause they will be maxed out ... <div></div>

well, i don't think there is a compelling reason for pallies to keep rez either.  i for one would rather have some other role in a raid than rez-bot, but that's just me.  if they make us better tanks and kill the rez, i'm fine with that.  if we don't get a viable new role in raids, but loose rez, then i have an issue with that ... <div></div>

All other current classes with a combat rez other then priests: -- Necro -- Dirge Have huge DPS potential in raids, and well Dirges give some great buffs/debuffs.  Necro's can also FD to save a raid, hand out Mod Hearts for power to people, etc... Currently in raids we can: -- Rez to 44/44% which is huge for the power - Rumor has it this is going away -- DPS via our AoE's and a good 2h'er (Royal Great Flail here) - Rumor has it, this is going away -- Main Assist on adds (such as in Zalak, or Drayek encounters) So taking away a Combat Rez from Dirges or Necro's mean nothing to them, since well they have more utility for raids then anything we can add. I guess my point is this, (same as above poster) unless we are able to tank Epic mobs at the same level as Guardians after this revamp then we need something added that distinguishes us from other classes to be worth a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]. If not then my $25+ a month (Station Access, EQ2 players upgrade) with SoE is done <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span><div></div>

<P>The lack of information and lockdown tactics only make this revamp less popular.  I hear from people I know in beta that at any given time you can do a /who all only get back 67 people.  SoE needs to invite more people to the beta, it should not be so darn secretive either.  This late in the game making these changes are going to be unpopular but handling it in the manner they are is only making it worse.</P> <P>I have tried to stay positive about all of this and just keep saying I will wait till it comes to test but I must say the more I hear (sure it's speculation and rumors) the less and less I can stay positive.  I have been playing my character since opening day and each day I shape and mold her to be better.  I do the same thing for my guild, the number of people in my guild who tell me that come revamp they may walk is just a bit disheartening.  </P> <P>Why in the heck would SoE do this?  I concur with Phov, we were told EQ2 would not cater to the high end guild's wants and yet I keep seeing encounters get buffed to the point of not being doable unless I tell certain classes I'm sorry we really can't do this with you in the raid I need (x) class instead.  It's ridiculous, you don't have to change the whole game for a few power gamers.  Just give them something to meet their challenge desires, not everyone desires to try the same mob over and over and fail when just a few weeks ago it was much more doable.  </P> <P>Now about our rez.  Precisely what was said here is correct.  Paladins have been labled utility tanks all along.  Our rez is a utility spell, it is the one function in a raid that everyone can rely on.  If you take it away give me a class defining role.  From my point of view as a Paladin, SoE has one strike :  our horse nerf.  If they take our rez and [Removed for Content] my raid role and make me useless that will be strike two and three combined.</P> <P>I'm not a power gamer, but I do play daily.  If the game becomes unfun I will cease playing.</P>

<DIV>Solo: Pal is really fun, but other class can tank better and even some classes that are not tankers ?!?? (healers, pet...): strange</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Group: Pal is good but some tanks are better aggroers and tanks: not a problem unless there is a lot of better class tanks LFG</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Raids: "Hey, let me rez because I can do nothing else really useful".
