I recently started playing again after a few month hiatus. My paladin is now lvl 28 and I still am not 100% sure where my power comes from. I have had 2 different lvl 50's tell me completely conflicting information. Perhaps I am stuck in EQ1 mode here in my thinking that wisdom is the prime contributor to mana/power. So here is what I have discovered. At my current lvl Str is giving me about 1.4 power per point of Str. Wisdom still gives me power but not as much as that as far as I can tell. Should I completely go after STR gear then as that not only boosts my power pool but my dps as well or does wisdom have a bonus that I as of yet cannot see. Thanks for the response and hopefully I can get to the bottom of this stupid issue that has been plaguing my nightmares.

Crance out.

You are correct in that Strength is the stat primarily tied to out power pool. Wisdom also effects it, although to a lesser degree, and the other stats not at all.

It is my impression, (and I happily stand to be corrected on this if anyone has more accurate information or a link to a specific thread about it) that with the combat changes, Wisdom will also help your ability to resist spells, while Intelligence will effect the amount of damage one can deal. Again though, I have no solid evidence, so please feel free to correct/clarify.

The general consensus is WIS is 25% of your total power, and STR 75%. A quick rundown on the stats and what they do: Strength
Power Pool (75%) Damage Bonus (melee weapon)
Dexterity
Avoidance Bonus "to hit" Bonus
Stamina
Health Bonus
Wisdom
Power Pool (25%) Resistance to spells (after combat upgrade)
 Intelligence
nada Damage bonus to spell-like attacks (after combat upgrade)
The lime coloured text is the proposes changes after the combat revamp, and is NOT active in the live servers... or even the test server anymore.

I believe agility also has a very small tie-in to your runspeed. Either that or some classes/races just run faster than others.

i have heard from scouts that parse that there is no noticeable "to-hit" bonus atm, don't know for sure as i haven't tested it myself. also, my understanding is that post combat changes melee will be attacker str vs defender agi and spells will be attacker int vs defender wis. so that would then be str = +to-hit, agi = +defense (effectively). am i remembering that right?
