This was posted by Moorguard on the post where the other paladin was warning us not to upgrade anymore spells, but it was not too clear.

*********************************************

While the combat changes are not a part of the Desert of Flames release, they are only on the beta server at this point, and thus fall under the NDA. The reason we have an NDA is that we prefer pre-release gameplay elements not be discussed openly until they are in a state that we consider ready. The new combat stuff is on beta because it will be on the live servers by the time the expansion ships, so the only way players will be experiencing the DoF content is with the combat changes in effect. Having it on beta now just gives us some early feedback. Again, please keep in mind that beta has just started.

The combat changes will be going to Test server after some additional data is completed, at which point they can be discussed openly. Please hold off on threads talking about actual experience with the changes until that point, as doing so will not present an accurate picture.

===========================
Steve Danuser, a.k.a. Moorgard
Game Designer, EverQuest II

*************************************************

One would think that this late into the changes, where they are being BETA tested on the expansion servers, the designers and developers would at least know the basic vision of how these changes will affect the current spell upgrading system.

We are not looking for detailed information on the way the combat changes work, well we are but we realize we won't be getting them at this point. :smileytongue:

What my biggest and I think many others concern is, should we keep on upgrading our spells and combat arts as we have been doing since November 2004, or should we just sit tight, not upgrade anything, and save our money for the new changes?

I do not think this is giving anything away, and is a service to the people being patient and waiting for these changes. I have about 4 rhodiums waiting to be made into spells and I would love to get them done now, but I am very leery about using this up now to only find I could have totally wasted about 5-6pp in rares.

Please just a simple statement of "I would suggest you wait" or "Do not worry and keep upgrading" would be greatly helpful and go a long way in regards to customer service.

Thanks.:smileyhappy:

amen. they keep saying "I know you are all nervous about ...", but they aren't doing anything about it. imho, they really should let people know this ...

I suggest you wait.

Ta-da!

Seriously though, don't waste Rubies until afterwards. That's just sound investing, because you never know where there going to best be needed. I'd give that advice in any major change like this.

problem with this is that i think ruby prices are gonna go up with everyone trying to adept3 their new spells. so i would suggest people keep buying, but maybe hold off on getting the skills made ...

You're right about the prices of rubies going up, and frankly, it never hurts to anticipate a change and make a profit.

I'm not a dev, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. That being said, I second everyone else, save your rares for post-revamp, but I'd definitely pick up any Adept I's you see for a decent price as you level, they're only a few gold depending on tier and server and will have a good return on the cost in the meantime (minus the broken ones- Courageous Dash, etc).
