Paladin power efficiency is horrendous, especially for races with small power pools. I hope that in the combat upgrade, our power efficiency is improved. Adept III spells and combat arts should use less power not more. From what I have seen and heard on the test server, our poor power efficiency is really hurting us in PvP :smileysad:

Paladin power efficiency, the combat upgrade and Adept III+ spells and combat arts (CAs) are all related issues. I heard that the combat upgrade was up on the test server temporarily (from people who play full time on the test server) and that PvP has also been up on the test server. The best way to find out what is up on the test server is to make a character and check it out.

Unless you are on the Beta server, the first look you can get at the changes is on the test server. The only game changes/features we can talk about in this forum are those that are public, ie. on the main servers or the test server. A good rule of thumb is, if it is on the test server oir main servers, we can talk about it, if it is on the Beta server, we cannot. I am not on the Beta server so I do not have a clue what is up there and if I was, I could not talk about it here due to the Beta NDA. I am not sure how we should address changes that go back and forth between the test server and the Beta server. Blackgaurd/Moorgaurd?

Message Edited by BlackWeb on 07-26-2005 05:34 AM

1. I totally agree 2. I could care less about PvP, really. EQ1 taught me that balancing PvP unbalances PvE, and PvE is more important. But 5 stars for the originality of your post! Nobody's ever said that before!!

With any luck, they will take a page out of the City of Heroes book and cause powers to work differently in PVP only so the PVE game doesn't go to hell and cause hell in the community.

Not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but - what are the power regen items available to not so high level characters? I've read about:

Prismatic Weapons

Ring of the Nightblood

Robe of the Invoker

Glowing Efreeti Boots

Wizard buffs

etc

But if (like me) you are only in your 30's, what is available? So far I can only come up with:

Manastone (which I will one day get :smileyhappy:), but could make healers in a group a bit unhappy with you

Player crafted drinks

Power regen potions

Your friendly neighbourhood enchanter

I've probably nerfed myself a bit, by concentrating more on stamina and agility than strength (and choosing human as race), but it would be nice to be able to tank without always being dangerously low on power, when the group is not lucky enough to have an enchanter along.

Message Edited by Antryg Mistrose on 07-26-2005 03:02 AM

I think the answer is balancing the Paladin power pool and power efficiency with other classes.

Don't know that we need improvements in both power pool and power efficiency. I agree that upgraded spells should be more efficient, and thus require less power to use. If, for example, an Adept 3 were to reduce the power cost of an Adept 1 by 25-30% across the board, then the size of our power pool could stay the same, and we'd still be much improved.

Other options would include leaving power costs the same, but increasing our base power or allowing us a self-only mana-regen buff that works during combat. I'm not talking something on the order of KEI here...more like Bot9, or Kittycrack from EQ1. In EQ2 terms, something comparable to the regen you get from level appropriate crafted drink, that stacks with anything else available.
