I've played around on the beta server with the new combat changes. We like all other classes are totally revamped. In order to not break the NDA I'll only say save your rubies. All our once sucky spells are gonna need upgrading. p.s. not sure what our raid roll wil be now

My concern will be that the differences will be so huge that sup-adept 3 players are basically crippled and made into pariahs.

Thanks for the information. Do you have an overall, general opinion so far? Good/bad, perhaps, or simply still too early to tell?

And please enlighten us as to the DPS changes(if any) we may be facing - it already takes 2-5min to kill greys/greens ^^ and quit frankly it gets very dull. I'm not asking you to break the EULA thingy... just from your general opinion just decrease, increase or the same will satify my curiosity.

Message Edited by boli on 07-25-2005 09:45 AM

As for the questions it would be nice to be able to answer then, but he can't give anything broader then what he just gave as to not break the NDA (and since he is in a high end guild [FoH] I don't think he would risk that at all)..

What would you consider out sucky spells to be. Personally I vote for Holy Symbol and Decree. Followed by our T5 heal and LoH. I still use the training heal as the power cost is too nice. With power costs going down for adept III's though, that should change I guess. I was thinking of getting Benediction adept III for the extra point of defense it gives now. Would be nice to know what it gives after revamp. I'm trying to think of what others I don't waster hotbar slots for........ I have a ruby and a rhodium in my possession, kinda gettin itchy I'm a level 50 Paladin on Mistmoore. I have a hit-list on my guild website for MOBS I've taken down and at what level. Feel free to PM me with or for any advice on skill usage/selections. Recent additions to my list are: Oak Matriarch 44^^, she's a warlock Willowmaw the Rotten 44^^ Brood Mother 44^^ with four melee adds, dropped Algid Shield a Congregation of Screams 44^^, piercing damage, in the tunnel to MM in Everfrost, dropped Algid dagger a Bloodthirsty Leopard 46^^, crushing damage, with all the other leopards, only with a shield and I landed Hero's Armor, dropped Frozen Enchanted Breastplate

Decree has to be the worst skill we have. the dam/power ration is about 1hp/power compared with 10 for unyielding wrath and 5-6 for most of our other skills. most of our AEs are in the 3-4 range, meaning that they are useful when engaging 3 or more targets. For Decree, you need to be fighting about 5-6 LINKED mobs in order for it to be worth it ...

OP: Great info here and in the cross-server Paladin channel yesterday, BTW, thanks.
Message Edited by WAPCE on 07-25-2005 12:26 PM

As stated I can't really give specifics on anything but I will say that so far I am enjoying the changes. I think in general encounters (heroic ^^) will be much more of a challenge once the changes go live. Don't look at your individual class and see the changes as a nerf. You'll need to look at each class and see how the entire game has kind of evolved. I'm happy with the paladin changes so far, but more testing is in order...especially for raid type mobs. edited for grammar

Message Edited by Walnutt on 07-25-2005 09:52 AM

Can you let us know the opposite of what you said please?

IE you told us to save our rubies, but are the rubies we spent wasted or do we keep our adept 3's and masters we have?

That is my main concern, the abilities I upgraded already may be sent to the trash bin and I would hate to think I wasted the cash flow so recently to upgrade.

I applied for beta but have not gotten in. :smileysad:

While the combat changes are not a part of the Desert of Flames release, they are only on the beta server at this point, and thus fall under the NDA. The reason we have an NDA is that we prefer pre-release gameplay elements not be discussed openly until they are in a state that we consider ready. The new combat stuff is on beta because it will be on the live servers by the time the expansion ships, so the only way players will be experiencing the DoF content is with the combat changes in effect. Having it on beta now just gives us some early feedback. Again, please keep in mind that beta has just started.

The combat changes will be going to Test server after some additional data is completed, at which point they can be discussed openly. Please hold off on threads talking about actual experience with the changes until that point, as doing so will not present an accurate picture.
