<DIV>Hey all i am a lvl 28 paladin who have just been lucky enough to mine myself a rough jasper, anyway i am just wondering which skill i should use it on?</DIV> <DIV>Thinking about choosing Oath strike, which i have just gained seems it seems like a nice damage spell. <DIV>For the long term, the majority of paladins would probably say, get Redemption.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you tank, it's a very useful tool.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you don't tank, Oath Strike is a nice choice. It is a spell that you'll use for a long time, but since the Adept I is fairly common, I never upgraded it for that extra bit of damage that an adept III provides.</DIV>

If you do Blessed Aid, then at L30 when you get a training choice choose the option that makes the heal go to a 15min timer.</span><div></div>

<DIV>I would have recommended the heal as well, but since the training was so close, it would make more sense to spread out the upgrades unless you are a rabid harvester. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I chose to sell all of my harvests, saving up money until tier 5, when I knew I wouldn't have to replace my armor for a while.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also do not use redemption. But simply browsing over these forums for a few months, many paladins swear by it. I've used it once, but don't prefer to use it because of the concentration slots. </DIV>
I upgraded Oath Stike to adept 3, and took the lvl 30 Blessed Aid upgrade, has a nice heal/pwr ratio. It was my best heal/pwr ratio til I got master Pious Aid.

Pious Aid Master /drool - I need to get me one of those. Display of Devotion Master 1, dropped earlier this week, but I lost the roll <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> - Pretty nice, since I believe it warded 806, which is +200 over Adept 1. <div></div>
<P>I got Display of Devotion master also hope it takes mitagtion into account like they are planning for shamans it will be very nice then <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>Picked up DoD master for 1p on the broker and got Pious Aid master from herioc arena, I didn't win the roll but it was guildies and they gave it to me <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<div></div><div></div><div></div>"A lot" vs "The Majority" - its a bit hard to get a straight answer about redemption. I think it would depend on your guesses about the combat revamp. With adepts likely to use less power than lower spells after this, you will want it to be a spell you will use a lot, as you will hopefully find you CAN use it a lot. Currently I find I can only use Oathstrike when I'm offtanking, as it takes too much power for soling or tanking (adept 3 takes even more power than adept1), and as <span>hylozoist states above, adept3 doesn't do a whole lot more damage to the reasonably common adept1.</span> If you never plan to group, then okay a heal or ward over redemption, but preferably NOT one you choose the upgrade for at 30<span>:smileyhappy: - </span><span>The sticky "Compiled List of Paladin Spell Data" at the top of this forum is a great resource, I'd recommend reading it in detail.</span> <span></span> If you group as the tank ( Paladins ARE tanks, not damage dealers or healers, but often you are relegated to that ), then hate management is your primary purpose, and despite it taking up two slots, Redemption is a fine tool, which as it doesn't use ANY ongoing power has kept me at the top of the hate list - and the player I cast it on alive, even when completely out of power (as happens a lot to paladins). As you might have guessed I went for Redemption and Oathstrike in that order, with the Blessed Aid upgrade choice at 30, and I'm NOT happy about it. Its not a permanent gimping, but I think Blinding Bash (replaced at 41), would have been a far better 2nd choice than Oathstrike - it does so many things <span>:smileyhappy:</span> (admittedly I much prefer grouping as the tank over soloing). I got redemption because it doesn't have an upgrade, and it was useful even at App1/App4, and I've never seen the adept on the broker. I got Oathstrike, because I actually believed some of the forum posts.<span> ps: Tier 3 spell upgrades are RARE - With TWO heritage quests causing Windswept Stones, to be few and far between (and palladium never used for spells unless you are very rich). So odds are, especially as you are lvl 28 already, that this is your ONE upgrade. Get redemption. </span><div></div><p>Message Edited by Antryg Mistrose on <span class=date_text>07-27-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:22 AM</span>

<P>My answer is upgrade nothing to adept 3 or master at this time.</P> <P>The combat changes are coming down the pike and we do not know how these changes will affect spell upgrades.</P> <P>You may upgrade a power now, and then find it changed when the changes come and you wasted a rare, or you can upgrade spells now, and also find the opposite, they work the same and the upgrade was money well spent.</P> <P>I have decided to hold on to my rhodiums and rubies and just upgrade to adept 1's until I know my rares wont be wasted.</P> <P>If money is not an issue for you, then by all means, upgrade away and really just use some guidelines when choosing upgrades:</P> <P>1. do I use the power alot?</P> <P>2. do I replace this power in the future, and when?</P> <P>3. do I group or solo alot?</P> <P>Most people you ask will give you a different opinion of what to upgrade and their really is not a right or wrong answer.</P>

Oath Strike. I use it all the time. It's usually my opening attack. I love it as it makes soloing so much easier with that much damage. <div></div>

<font color="#ffff66" face="Arial" size="3">"Oath Strike. I use it all the time. It's <i><b>usually my opening attack</b></i>. I love it as it makes soloing so much easier with that much damage."</font> Am I missing something here? Oath Strike is strictly a Melee range attack, so I've never used it as an "Opening Attack" - what i do use for soloing is a macro - ranged spell attack, ward, melee. Or for grouping, a couple of macros. Neither of which include Oath Strike. So you aren't doing any damage, before it comes into melee range? I hope in groups at least you are doing a few other taunts/buffs/attacks before it gets that close. It certainly doesn't sound like you ever tank. So for that play style, I'm not in a position to argue. <div></div>

<DIV>At T3 and beginning of T4 zones, you'll get more use out of Oath Strike or your Heal. I was lucky and had Oath Strike and the Heal to Adept III before the training options. I do hear that lots of folks swear by the training heal. It just wasn't worth it for me becaue I had Adept III.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You will get a lot of use from Redemption at the higher levels. It can really help out with keeping aggro, or if your are not the MT, keeping the hate down on a mage for the MT.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I still use Oath Strike Adept III during my 40's, but only when soloing. It doesn't miss like my Sworn Strike Adept I and does decent damage for the power usage. Best bet for longest usage would be Oath Strike or Redemption IMHO. When you get Devout Aid (upgrade to Blessed Aid) and upgrade it to Adept III, it's a better heal. I never use my Blessed Aid Adept III any more. Devout Aid need a rare T4 jem. Easy enough to find if you know where to look and can deal with some bordem. I've harvested 7 opals so far and have most of the T4 (mostly worthless) abilities upgraded. I will say that Shatter Will Adept III / Doom Judgement III are nice spells I still use at level 50.</DIV><p>Message Edited by RiotActer on <span class=date_text>07-29-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:00 AM</span>
