What do you think of that, eh? I've never used /respec, so when I get to L50 I can do it all at once! Just turned L40, so I only have a couple choices left. Only 1/2 kidding.

It's the smart thing to do ... at least hold off on /respec'ing until you've done enough raids to know which choices benefit you long term.

Well everyone will get a /respect after the combat change and what is good today can be useless tomorrow... But not even God know the date of the change

when u respec the Theron's Call of Hope i believe is what its called is and upgrade to your attk buff/ 5% hate spell. this upgrade is one of the major good ones....adept2 quality with an upgrade to 10% hate instead of 5%.... works great to keeping aggro and getting it back. and if u decide to go on any of the resist stats and you plan on raiding poison is a good option because its one of the hardest resists to get a high mitigation on.

To the OP -- that is/was my exact game plan.

My guild just recently started raiding, so I wanted an opportunity to "examine" the raid scene and figure out how I need to adjust my skills to be successful precombat changes. I would imagine a new /respec for everyone post combat revamp, so I do have one to burn now, but want a few more epic's under my belt before I cast my lot.

Since my solo play has declined rapidly--working on bringing up a 29 assassin when I solo and small group, I'll likely (never thought I would before) switch from the 99 mana/499 heal (Renar's) training upgrade to the 15 minute LOH line. If I through in assist heals on the raid scene now it's Pious Aid (100% of the time).

I didn't have a lot of spare coin in the beginning so I did not take Kasine's -- but the Oath Strike adept 2 training upgrade (probably only paladin in the game to play the part of the fool : Now I have Sworn Strike, coin isn't the issue it was before, so I'll be switching this time and in future training choices to things that impact the entire group. I also picked the training upgrade on Oath Strike because I was having horrible luck with that special early on missing 5-6/10 times, but it eventually seemed to resolve itself.

I'll likely change a mastery or two which isn't of much importance, but still something that will change (why oh why Centaur the first time Kalen? )

Now, the biggest item that I rarely see our group discuss is training options that revolve around bonuses to defense, power regen, increased STR, WIS, STA, AGI, etc.

During the first round, I focused on STR most of the time and I focused on mana regen. I don't believe I took the defensive increases even once -- been awhile since I made those decisions. However, I'm pondering those options pretty frequently now.

What route did the rest of you guys take in those categories and how would they change if you respec'd again?

- pure defensive upgrades?
- more HP?
- more mana?
- more mana regen?
- a mix?
- etc.?

Thanks,
Kalen

Since our power comes from both Str (which I have a lot of as a barbarian) and Wisdom, I figure its easier to upgrade Stamina items (through hex, potions, rings, etc) and get more HP, rather then take HP options. In raids Kasine's is huge imho, especially if you are not the MT or MA (since they get beat on during certain raids as well) - normally I have Kasine's x 5 taking up all of my concentration slots in my group since the bonuses are big for others. If I had to select resists, like a poster above said I would go with Magic or Poison, since they are my two lowest. I have really good divine, heat, and cold resists and good others....but poison and magic (and magic is big since they revamped King Zalak of the CL yesterday) are my lowest, and it seems the hardest for other group members to buff. In the + stat options, I might be apt to go more Stamina, but that depends on my gear when I respec. Not even sure I have a respec left (I might), but when we get our token respec during the combat upgrade I will change around some of them.

I really need to see and feel how SOE will come up with the pure tank paladin. They rework all spells/CAs... changing/adding/nerfing some effect ... power used... dont scale with level Plate tank get a boost in mitigation and a big drop in avoidance, how important defence and AGI will be after that... ? A lot is left to be seen and a lot of questions will stay unanswered until that.

I wish Dark Elves got a racial trait that added +5 to defense... Hind sight is 20/20 I guess. I am looking forward to another /respec, but I am torn on what to do with it. Kasine's Enlightened Piety vs Theron's Call of Hope. I currently have Kasine's and I love the added AGI it gives, but I'm not sure +23 AGI is worth the huge ammount of extra hate transfer that Theron's gives over Call to Glory. STR vs STA. I chose STR at every option, I still wonder it was worth it over the extra health that STA could have given me. Health Pool vs Power Pool. I chose power regen at every option which in hind sight seems like a bad choice since it turned out to be out of combat regen only. Is it worth chosing the increase in power pool knowing that ~150 power will give me another 711 health or going for raw health increases. I might even change my level 10 training option, I chose the 6 second refresh taunt (Herion's Challenge) for quick HO completions, but I see that Theron's Heartening Call gives the group +10 STA. Can any one that has Theron's Heartening Call tell me if that +10 STA stacks with other +STA buffs like Crusade/Kasine's? Does it get over written if Theron's Call of Hope is cast afterwards? I don't remember what resists I chose, but I will certainly pick up some more posion resists. Oh and Orc mastery rage will get changed to Gnoll mastery rage now that Splitpaw is out.

Message Edited by Darkith on 07-06-2005 04:23 AM

By Single Chance, do you mean only change 1 of the traits or everyone of them.

all of your previous choices, but you can only /respec once

It means you can use the /respec command only once and it allows you to rechoose ALL your adventure level based choices. Racial Traditions, Trainging skill choices and racial enemy selections for example. Once you have used /respec your stuck with all the choices you made permanently.
