View Full Version : Screaming Mace (SM) Named Mobs

Ok guys what's the deal with the named spawns in Cazic-Thule for the Screaming Mace?

I need the Despoiler and the Cenobite. Everyone says the Torturer below is the hardest to get, but I've killed it twice now and have yet to see either of the two above even spawn.

The Champion pops on the tallest pyramid on the right side platform half way up (killed it 8-9 times now), but yet to see the other two spawn.

I have honestly gone in at server reboot, killed every lizard on all three towers, all the lizards in the lawn below to where literally there are no more then 2-3 groups total of any lizards in that part of the zone! Everyone keeps telling me clear the lizards at the top of the two smaller pyramids, so the other day I burn 11 hours (no joke) running back and forth killing all the lizards at the top of the pyramids, all the lizards in the yard between the three pyramids and even the lizards under (inside) the pyramids that most don't even know exists in that location (go behind the stairs for those that haven't). I had a scout buddy with tracking up the whole time as well. I've managed to encounter the epic golem twice now in the same time frame at the top of the smaller pyramids.

Prior to the 11 hour camp (including a server restart that day), I had spent at least 5 different trips in Cazic Thule seeking only those 2 named for a minimum of 5 hours camping each trip.

Either the mobs are broken, the spawn timers are borked or I'm jinxed

Any tips greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kalen

those two towers suck. the torturer gets borked alot so everyone says that's a pain, but the tower spawns are just RARE. I spent days up there helping guildies. I've never seen the towers get screwed up, it's just not a common spawn. And to help out you ONLY need to clear the tops of the towers.

Despoiler PH are the stationary Liz between the two broken walls on the way to the three pyramids. Kill them and hit first small pyramid.

Ceno PH are the Tops of the two small ones. Mine came off the right.

Clear the top, pull the two roamers inbetween. If you stay on the path, you don't need to clear the rest of the trash.

Then hit the other small pyramid. The Ceno is on either small tower at the top.

One good strat if you have a long range puller like a Conj or Illusionist, is to make camp on top of big pyramid. Have puller drop down corner a few steps until he can reach the top of next pyramid and pull to top of big one. Fastest way to clear them, but dangerous for the puller.

Pet pulls work very well for this.

If I needed both I would clear the PH between the walls, then the roamers on the paths and the spiders near the second wall (might be soem goo there as well) and keep them cleared. Then make a circle from one pyramid to the other then back to the stationary lizards. Lots of adds so you will need to go slow.

Camps suck but I got them a coupel days ago so I don't think they are broken.

The despoiler has been the hardest to get for me personally. I got the other 3 the first nite camping. I guess it's all about luck. Is there a particular area that the despoiler spawns?

Thanks for the tips. I had a private message listing I should kill the lizards that get near the wall partitions for one of the named as one guild reported catching one of the named pop there 2-3 different times. The partitions in question are the rock walls just before the three pyramids.

I /agree on your assessment of the two small towers. I think it's absurd to have someone just stand and camp, stand and camp, rinse and repeat for not hours but days on end in a zone.

Another question ... Once you get all the named and visit the waterfall and the one hour timer begins ... is that to find the next pool? to receive the random key drop? or to complete the entire heritage in the instanced zone?

Heaven forbid you fail the one hour timer, but if so does it start over with having to kill all the named again? or just starting from the waterfall again or worse yet a whole new drop from Agony?

I really want that mace, but it seems like prismatic might come before I get the crazy thing.

Thanks,
Kalen

Thanks again for the tips guys. I guess I've just been unlucky on this particular camp. Patience starts wearing thin in the upper 40 to 50 range when everything we need for any quest is a 2-4 hour camp It probably didn't help that I tried to assist a few guildies with the access quest to enter "deeper" into Obelisk of Lost Souls (later the CT day camp) and we waited 3.5 hours for one named that never popped before everyone lost interest and gated to start crafting out of boredom.

Even question mark pops can only hold a parties interest for so long

Thanks,
Kalen

Message Edited by SanJun on 06-27-2005 11:35 AM

WOW! I guess I feel lucky. We hit all four in one night (5-6 hours I think). To answer the timer question, if I remember correctly it's just to get downstairs to the pool, once you get the update the timer stops.

Wish I could tell you a secret to the two tower spawn, or the one between the walls. We ran back and forth, keeping it clear as well as clearing all the grouped lizards between the walls and they spawned the first time I camped them. On the other hand, I camped the torturer several nights before we got him.

:smileyhappy:

Wallzak

Just to add to the general clamor but also to confirm, the spawn times on these mobs are just -very- erratic. Champion tends to pop easiest from my experiences. I camped the pyramids for the better part of a week for Cenobite, but Despoiler popped after literally one kill of the statcs for me.

Message Edited by Pathin Merrithay on 06-28-2005 06:08 PM

I'm still 0/2 on the remaining named mobs. However, I spent another 3 hours clearing the tops of both smaller pyramids (solo) for about an hour and then in a pickup group of two other guys hoping for the same thing. Later, three guildies showed up to help me camp and after 4.5 hours total time with 0 spawns, we departed to do a guild raid.

I returned later that night and learned that a group that was camping the named during my earlier camps STILL had not seen a single spawn for the names (8.5 hours for the group).

I decided to call it a night and headed towards the zone-in. Upon arriving at the top of the large stairs, a group had just engaged the Despoiler. I stopped to watch the fight (green mob to me @ 50) when I realized it was another group of ALL my guild ... [Removed for Content]. They broke the encounter since they had 2 that needed and I had three counting me. We RAPIDLY regrouped as we chased the mob to its spawn point, but the other group leaving the pyramids engaged it contray to my ranged running pull

At least I know the exact spawn location now. As you enter CT, climb the first set of tall stairs, travel to the left past the first rock barrier walls. As you approach the second set of rock walls before the courtyard of pyramids, the named spawns on the left side of the path, very close to the wall but definitely "this side" of the wall before the pyramids.

No doubt the spawn timers are whacky, but you can guess where I'll be camping tonight. Incidentally, does anyone know what I can do with a "stone" golem heart--looks white compared to the clay golem heart (orange) and I snagged it from the epic x 2 that camps under the pyramids periodically?

Thanks,
Kalen
