I'm curious about this spell. I can't tell if it's actually doing any good when I buff the MT, or anyone for that matter. Does it have stacking issues with other classes? Is it a known bugged spell (since it seems we have quite a few that are) ? Would love to hear some input from other paladins that use it. The Master claims: 46% increase to Avoidance, 10 to Tower/Kite Shields, 110 to Physical Mitigation...if I remember correctly.

My jaw dropped the day I picked up this spell. At adept 1 the stat is around 37%. However, on the raid scene I always get an increase on the MT of 0.1% avoidance. To ensure the uber spell wasn't being cancelled out by other group members, the main tank and I dropped from group, cleared all our buffs/wards/etc. and came up with the same results.

It's either a case of another broken Paladin spell or it's not showing up properly on the receipent of the spell. I still use it as it requires no concentration slot, but its usefulness may be limited at this stage in the game.

Another issue I see with large groups/raids is a maximum display of spell effects on a group of 30. I'm wondering several things:

1. Is there a limit of 30 total buffs that can effect a group at once? If so, it would be wise to cast with caution and seek the best scenerios for a raid or large group.

2. If there is not limit, is there a way through the UI or options to increase the display beyond 30 displayed spells? I started with a single row at the maximum resolution on a 22" monitor and still received 30. Next, I converted the window to a 2x2 side-by-side display that still just shows 15 spells in column 1 and 15 spells in column 2. It makes it difficult to track the timer on ring buffs (I use 4) when the window is already capped @ 30 and since ring buffs do NOT display under our maintained spells, which I believe they should--just like our imbuements.

Thanks,
Kalen

I am pretty sure that it does have some stacking issues. You may also notice that in certain raid setups, the main tanks avoidance can be far above 100% even before you cast UF. That doesnt mean not to use it, better safe than sorry. In raid setup, If I (lvl 50 pali) am in the main group, my buffs for the MT normally include UF Master1, GoA Master1, KeP,as well as normal group buffs all at ad3 or master lvl. When not in the MT group, I normally look for the most vital group member to the raid as a target for UF..i.e.(breezer,healer,etc). I am sure you all know this little trick by now, but I even use UF when I solo for the shield buff(cast it on your squire).

Just a note, it's not a stacking issue, about 3 or 4 classes get a similar ~40% avoidance buff. It does not do ANYTHING visibly to the actual avoidance stat of your target. I'm not sure if it actually helps or if it is working, because giving +40% avoidance itself in one spell is simply rediculously unbalancing. The +0.1% or +0.2% avoidance you notice is actually from the +1/+2 parry skill from unwavering faith.IF Unwavering Faith's 40% avoidance does in fact work, my best guess would be it's a straight 42% (or whatever) check AFTER other avoidance checks are calculated..Example:Enemy Swings at you... (using my current stats with shield up)Note: ( <actual skill> ) +<real increase to avoidance> = <cumulative avoidance up to that point>1) Check Base Avoidance (35.6%)2) If you dont Avoid, Check Block skill (16.4%) +10.6 = 46.2%3) If you dont Block, Check Parry Skill (28.9%) +15.5 = 61.7%4) If you dont Parry, check Deflection skill (0%) +0.0 = 61.7% (numbers work perfect, 61.7% is my avoidance)I'm Guessing Unwavering Faith might add:5) If you dont Deflect, Check Unwavering Faith's Dodge chance (42%) +15.3 = 77.0% effective avoidanceEven so, a 15.3% boost (adept 3) is a pretty good avoidance increase for one spell.Disclaimer: This is a theory on my end, It's how I've always just assumed it worked, but now that I did all the math, I might as well find somone bored enough to see if Unwavering Faith actually does increase avoidance by ~15% (well, I guess I have to recalculate everything for the other person)[Edit: Stupid Smileys, how I hate thee]
Message Edited by Cedrian on 06-16-2005 02:51 PM

This spells avoidance effect was squashed a few months ago do to the fact that it /w a bards spell was makeing tanks untouchable. The above poster is correct the only thing this spell does is add 2 to parry on target

We've got 1 spell to add migitation to the MT : Gift of Armament We've got 1 spell that should add avoidance and migitation and parry to the MT, where in fact it only adds 2 to parry. We've got a training art that I still don't understand why people think we are the best buffers for the MT.

Dwergux the main thing I do on raids in the tank group these days is cast Kasines on all the healers and the tank stats are around as follows 26 wiz 28 agi 32 str and sta the parry increase only add's a very sad .1% the agility on the other hand works well + with the power increases we can give the MT group healers is quite a nice boost.......

End game zerkers ATM are the strongest defence buffer if you just want HP thats unreal

Cant wait for the combat balence so pallys = gaurds, but then again I waited for that in SWG for a frigging year and quit before the space deal came out dishartened
