I was a bit puzzled by your post until after the screen shot displayed (took it awhile to load).

You listed level 46^^ mobs which made me ponder your Paladin level until I noticed the screen shots.

My first impression was that you were probably a mid to upper 40 level Paladin, since I have no trouble at level 49
with level 45^^ mobs (green con to me). As a matter of fact, I harvest a great deal in Lavastorm just across the
first bridge and the Goblin Lookouts (45^^) can barely hit me. Typically, when they do, I regen health as fast as they
can damage me. Likewise, I just go ahead and keep harvesting while it tries repeatedly to hit me.

THEN ....

Your screen shot loaded and I noticed the mob you were facing in Everfrost was NOT 46^^, but in fact 49^^ and that you are
a 50 Paladin (blue con mob to you). Very nice work on your battle and tactics similar to what I employ sans some of the
kiting.

I have really bad luck with long-term kiting based on two factors:

1. I tend to get too far ahead of the mob most of the time and the encounter breaks
2. I tend to get hit much more often with my back to the mob running

It sounds like I need to practice more as I read about others kiting stuff all the time successfully. On really hard mobs, I tend to:

A. plant and let my armor do the work for me
B. use nothing but shield bashes to stun the target between my heals so I don't get interrupted as much
C. use devout sacrement if I fall behind on my heals
D. use LOH line if I fall behind more
E. spam the adept 2 training heal at only 90 mana until the mob is out of mana
F. in between this sequence, I do HOs only with Refusal of Grace and Sworn Strike (for some better damage)
G. i don't use other attacks and hope my armor holds up until the timers on those 2 attacks are reset for new use

If the mob takes my health faster then my normal heal chased with a sacrement and even LOH or my mana is all but gone
and the mob has a lot left, I'll bail on the encounter. However, most of the time, I can last long enough on some blue ^^ mobs
until they are out of power, then its a melee (long drawn out battle--with me using the manastone only when I'm still in the green to get
back a little power for a HO series and one more heal). These battles tend to go on for extended periods of time as I'm out of power,
the mob is out of power, but the mob isn't hardly hurt because I've been in defensive mode most of the fight.

I try this from time-to-time but the XP/loot ratio/down time post battle usually isn't worth the effort. I'm the unluckiest guy
on the planet when it comes to chest drops soloing. I see them once in a blue moon and usually no more then 1 per 200 green con or
higher kills. I see them frequently in groups, but rarely solo. I have yet to get a chest from a blue ^^ solo

When I try the blue ^^ mobs, I have all my 5 concentration slots filled with our highest level wards--benediction, crusade, etc.
I use call of glory, prayer of devotion and blessing of the devout for more HP. I do not ward myself during the battle with our DOF line as it
eats WAY too much mana. I have two imbued bloodstone rings of STR and STA--both cast, two imbued T5 STA hex dolls (note: neither
require power to cast so when I'm completely oom, I'll throw the ruin on the mob for something to do). Beyond that I have pretty good
gear (imbued ebon BP/leggings, LJBoots, rest fulginate or rubicite, decent jewelry--one handed ebon long sword and SBS).

Thanks for your tips, I will give kiting another shot with some of your tactics.

Kalen

I forgot to mention that all my abilities and skills are adept 1. I spent a little coin the other night and replaced the remaining apprentice 4's I had with adept 1's. I didn't even bother to check if they were worth the effort since the remaining apprentice 4's were relatively cheap.

I'm in the process of working with my guild to acquire my two-handed prismatic, but currently have:

Advisor's Greatsword, An Ancient Ebon Tulwar and an Ancient Ebon Flail for 2-hd
Pristine Imbued Ebon LongSword 1-hd
Shiny Brass Shield

I'm trying to get the last named mob for the screaming mace as an eventual 1-hd crushing weapon which I'll probably use more then the longsword based on forum notes regarding the item and it's power regen abilities.

Likewise, we have a dozen or more 50's and a large number of 40+ players in the guild so we'll be doing a lot of higher-end content raids soon so maybe some fabled gear in my future.

Thanks,
Kalen

I wouldn't use GEBs for kiting, prismatic and manastone work fine on their own. I would suggest using FotB items instead (Necklace of Mysterious origin, Rubicite Kite Shield, Ring of Removal, etc.). With those 3 I get ~175 life per tick (in combat) which is enough to deal with the few hits these mobs land. Though as of late, I seem to be getting hit a lot more as they move faster... Regardless, some mobs require a different strategy as opposed to kiting.

For any of you that have doubts about you class or your potential, let me just say this... Dont. I am a lvl 50 pali on permafrost and can solo the 50^^ Giants outside of SE( I win bets on this all the time)

Now before you ask, no I am not some ubered out raid tank but I do have my fair share of the good gear and afew masters hear and there. I am also not a dirty SK so there was no kiteing this was toe to toe.

I did take full advantage of potions (about 8 different ones) and rings (4) Power food and screaming mace for the little power proc every once in awhile. took about 5 mins because i did not get a chance to cast devout for the second time. Heals and buffs are the key not all out war fare.

If anybody wants more info about this fell free to ask.

Knickknac

Permafrost
