OK, so I'm 41, and sporting my shiny new Imbued Ebon BP/Legs (/wave Blackweb ). Pretty broke at the moment, but I'll probably be able to buy another ebon off the broker in about 3 days, if I don't manage to harvest one. What should I upgrade with it? I'm thinking of going for the EBBC, or just a regular imbued ebon 2hander, before getting the other, non-imbuable, armor slots upgraded, but am open to suggestions... Well I'd go for EBBC perhaps or sell it and buy those fabled T5 flail/maces... While ebon imbued weapons are nice I'd rather get/quest Crook, EBBC, perhaps fabled T5 flail/mace, ghoulbane, bloodfire, screaming mace. Dunno if you really need anything else except perhaps prismatic weapon and if you like axes then imbued ebon axe or mess seargeant cleaver.

If you are looking to get armor, the forearms slot and shoulders slot are very nice items.

The EBBC isn't that great a weapon, and the proc is much, much lower than what you get from an imbued ebon weapon. The stats on it are nice, but you can get better stats with a 1h imbued ebon and a shield, or better damage with a 2h imbued ebon.

I plan on doing the level 40 heritage quest for the EBBC at some point because I enjoy the heritage quests. However, I have several reservations at the moment.

- I do not have Berik's Sword of Thunder to add the proc to the BBC/IBBC. I would hate to burn an ebon on that heritage and not get the gusto weapon even though the proc isn't that impressive considering ebon imbued crafted weapons. However, I would still want the proc I like the EBBC a lot and would use it frequently off tanking, but plan on waiting for either a drop or purchase of the Sword of Thunder quest. I currently have the Advisors Great Sword (decent but not great stats) that I found on the broker one evening for 4 gold. I switch it up between an ancient ebon tulwar I likewise purchased for small gold when I want a two-handed slasher. EBBC would be better then both at the moment.

- I'm really leaning towards the two-handed version of the prismatic instead of the one-hander. I already have the one-handed ebon imbued long sword for one, but will most likely be serving in an OT role during raids that would better merit a two-handed weapon. The prismatic two hander is better then any version of the xBBC. My guild likewise has a number of level 50's all dreaming of prismatic, so it's likely I'll acquire one of these items in the not so distant future.

- Realzing more and more as we approach and attain level 50 that weapons are constantly changing, it's likely through raiding, high-end mob content and a not-so-distant expansion pack that weapons will surprass current prismatic and tier 5 goodies. A heritage reward such as EBBC will sell for 60 gold (correct me if I'm wrong), compared to a pristine imbued ebon crafted weapon around 5 or 6 gold at best. It might be nice to have the extra 55ish gold to purchase a future weapon or weapon component upgrade the extra coin from sale would merit from a heritage reward. At level 49 I still have < 5 plat total so coin conservation remains an important concern when higher end gear is often 1-10 plat I make a lot, but boy do I spend!

I have examined the Screaming Mace stats quite a bit and noticed it will likely serve as my primary one-handed crushing weapon which will nicely offset my ebon longsword one hander. (Provided I can get one last named to spawn--camp, camp, camp) If I go prismatic with my two handed weapon, I'll likely burn a future ebon two hander on a crushing weapon.

My point is to consider the weapons you have now and compare them through level 50 attainable gear and try to find nice/elite gear in both one and two handed for both slashing and crushing. If you plan a little you'll not make the mistake of buying say a one handed crushing weapon (ebon) when you could protentially pickup the screaming mace a day or two later You'll be thinking prismatic in the mid 40's - 50, so try to plan well for great gear in 1-h and 2-h both slash/crush.

Thanks,
Kalen

Use it on armor, or sell it yourself. I would suggest the shoulders personally. I wouldn't use it on a weapon as you will be getting the 2H prismatic for slashing (or 1H prismatic) and you will want to get RGF for crushing 2H and HMH or VWH for 1H crushing.

Message Edited by TooSwiss on 06-03-2005 03:35 PM

I'm going to have to agree with the spaulders suggestion. Just look at the improvement over your current spaulders. vs. You gain 7 stamina, 1 wisdom, 11 power, 6 hitpoints, 320 heat resist, 40 cold resist, and 59 mitigation (at level 50).

And go get your jboots you slacker!

Message Edited by Darkith on 06-06-2005 07:18 AM

No need to start a new thread, gimme some input on using my second ebon that I harvested last night in Feerrott. My first went to an imbued BP, and I'm deciding between a.) imbued legs, b.) a good imbued weapon, or c.) biting the bullet and picking up SoT to do the EBBC. The (c) option is a distant third, though. My other armor pieces are pristine fulginate, rubicite, or ebon platemail.

i went bp, spaulders, legs, gloves, hat, bracer. the stats of the spaulders are better than the silly imbued effect on the legs imo.

if u get a weapon with ebon go 2h ebon crush....get the crush with the highest dmg. it does really decent dps in raids.

I'm gonna say DEFINITELY shoulders...in fact...I'd go shoulders before legs in most cases (I did), or get the BBC finished (you can always sell it later, when you get your prismatic or a fabled 2 hander, and the amount you sell it for is a much higher value than that imbued ebon weapon) Imbued ebon weapons, imho are a waste of ebon (except maybe 2hb) Reasoning behind this is simple: If you are a raiding paladin, you're almost always going to either be using a 2 handed weapon (usually a sword) or screaming mace and a shield (for those immune to slashing). On the rare occasion that you DO tank, you're probably still going to be using that screaming mace. Blood Fire works fine tanking non raid mobs, since they aren't immune to treasured weapons.

i wouldnt go with ebon 2hb solely because screaming mace owns so so much, you dont need another blunt weapon. if you need a legendary weapon i'd say got with just a plain BBC until you get prismatic, unless you already have berik, id save the 3-5plat. i'm still trying to pawn of my blood fire.
