Currently standing I am a lvl 22 paladin working on aq 5 (havent got the helmit from the other quest yet though). I have the lvl 20 paladin sword, and some other random gear ive looted or quested for along the way (nothing that great). Was wondering if anyone knew of some good quests I could go on around my lvl, like the aq quests, for some decent gear. Also looking to buy adept 1 or 3 blessed aid, got the money, on oggok.

Completing the armor quests from Ian should provide enough decent gear to carry you through the tier. If coin is tight, save all you can for a feyiron/feysteel upgrade in tier 4 (level 30-39).

Thanks,
Kalen

Spend some time soloing in Stormhold and get yourself a Berik's Sword of Thunder. Even if you don't use it, you can sell the quest starter and get enough cash to hook you up in armor through lvl 39.

I soloed 3 characters in SH throughout their 20s and never once got the Berik starter.

:smileyvery-happy:I found 2 SoT starters in the matter of 24 hours. I activated the first and sold the second for 3 plat. With that plat, I purchased a full suit of imbued feysteel that is sitting in my bank waiting for me to ding 30....which hopefully will be Friday.

There is a quest for a nice neck item that starts in Vermin's Snye. Actually it's a series of two related quests: "Ruins of Varsoon" and "Into the Crypt of Betrayal" from Zaen Kalystir (he's in a little alcove off the hallway that leads to the rat queen). These are access quests that lets you enter the back entrance to the Ruins of Versoon. They may be very difficult solo at your level, but you can do it with a group. "Ruins of Varsoon" 1) Visit the Tomb of Varsoon on the Forbidden Isle (NW corner of Antonica) 2) Visit the Hidden Entrance to the Ruins of Varsoon - this is in a little cave/alcove past the skeletal veterans in the southeastern part of the zone not too far from the normal entrance to RoV. It's kind of a scary run in the early 20s but it's doable. "Into the Crypt of Betrayal" 1) Kill the Archaic Fury in the Crypt of Betrayal - this is a rare spawn around +80, -63. Bring a group at your level to take out the placeholder mobs in the area and the Archaic Fury himself. When you return to Zaen the final time he rewards you with the Keep of Immortality Key. You can't wear it until lvl 24, but it is a nice neck item until you get into the 30s.
I have spent more time in SH with Kalen then any toon should have to spend in any zone and I've yet to see a chest drop with the Sword of Thunder. I hunted their in the very low 20's through early 30's (all levels) killing from green to orange ^^ depending on levels and was never even part of a group that saw the chest drop I have revisited and mentored many evenings with friends that all agreed I would receive the loot should it drop--to no avail.

You are very fortunate to have looted two from that zone--a big Congratulations! I have since ran another toon through literally seven levels in that zone without ever seeing the loot drop. I've killed every hot spot listed from defiled lancers, knights, trash in the library and chessboard, etc. as far as I'm concerned it's truly random and still rare. Think about it this way. Why were you able to sell it for 3 plat? If you could just walk in and get it easily it would be worth a few gold to players that didn't feel like wandering into the zone

Also, after you complete the Sword of Thunder quest and receive "Berik's Sword of Thunder," it may be added to a level 40 heritage quest reward that grants the Inert Bone Bladed Claymore (a pretty nice 2-hander). If you have Berik's you may strike the two swords together at the completion of the heritage to add Berik's proc to the Inert Bone Bladed Claymore (IBBC or just BBC). The two swords together are known in game as EBBC (Electrified Bone Bladed Claymore). You could say the electrified part is the proc from Berik's. I know a player that received three drops on our server in the same day in the zone from killing defilied lancers and knights--lucky dawg! haha

I think you made a wise decision after acquiring such a large sum of coin at a mid level to invest in uber armor that will last you through the early 40's--nice work!

Thanks,
Kalen

If you're going to camp SOT (Sword of Thunder) in Stormhold, you might as well do the relic keeper's quest as soon as you enter the zone. He will give a Paladin a VERY nice set of gloves in the low to mid 20's. Likewise, all the POI's are inside Stormhold.

Another player mentioned the garden bracelet in antonica (updated by visiting the Atrium in SH), grab the quest from the NPC (either mendor or one next to him right beside garden bracelet quest) to visit the blacksmith in Antonica. There are a lot of updates to get inside SH--fun place!

Thanks,
Kalen

Kalen...thanks for the nice words. I still remember when I found the second one, I was chatting with a friend in game trying to decide what to do with the first...sell or use. When the chest dropped...I just knew it would be in there...made it all a moot point. I don't regret buying the armor for a second. I still don't have the feysteel boots, but I thought I could quest for some boots that may add a % to movement speed. For some reason I have been very fortunate to this point in the game waiting on camped mobs or hoping of "uber" loot. I don't think I have ever had to wait more than two hours for any single mob...that being Captain Guard Hess.

I think to this point the hardest fight I have had was a toss up between Grolven Chiptooth or the boss mob at the end of the Zek access quest. Did I mention I hate Gwar the Mad!!

The only boots I've noted with a speed increase is the Legendary Journeyman Boots that are granted after completing the runs through Antonica -> Commonlands -> Thundering Steppes -> Nek Forest -> Zek -> Enchanted Lands -> Feerrott

You can get the boots in the early 30's when you gain access to Feerrott for the last leg of the race, but unfortunately you can't equip them until level 42. I recommend completing the quest around 38-39 where you'll get around 32-36 percent XP.

If you are going to camp Captain Hess in SH, I recommend going to the basement of Stormhold in the library and speaking with the librarian to start the access quest to the Tomb of Valor (TOV) You need this access quest later to enter the tomb and pickup Ghoulbane if you've completed or are working on the Dusty Blue Stone quest that starts in Nettleville Hovel. Weakened Ghoulbane is a decent sword that is relatively easy to get if you live in SH day after day Likewise, Hess is one of the named mobs you need for the access quest so why not get access to the tomb while you also pickup an Ancient Kite Shield?

Thanks,
Kalen
