Penitent Sacrament - When do you use it?

I just recently got the spell "penitent sacrament" and was suprised to see that it has a five minute timer, as well as the penitent essence (which i have been saving since I got blessing of the penitent) Now this can't act as an emergency heal as "lay on hands" does, since it uses power Nor can it be used as a main heal for the times you have a penitent essence, since it is on a 5 minute timer So my question is, when do you use this or its upgrade, and does it actually have any useful purpose. If it was on a short recast, but limited by needing the essence and being self only then it is a good spell, but as it stands it seems to be pointless to me. <div></div>

It is the first heal I always use in battle. It heals twice as much as blessed aid and only uses 1/3rd as much magic. Sometimes you will use it twice in a  battle. It is a great spell. I just wish it had a shorter timer. I was thinking about upgrading it to Adept III. Anyone know what that heals for? What level do you get the upgrade? <div></div>

<DIV>its awesome, just give it time. its really cheap too so youll be surprised its effectiveness as an emergency heal. not as good of one as lay hands, but its still a nice chunk of hp to work with. just remember it only works on you, not your friends.</DIV>
