I'm wearing a couple of pieces of Silvril armor--found it on the broker, no idea where it comes from, though I did see somebody /ooc about Silvril ore/extract once. In any case, the stats seem pretty close to feysteel, and the price is much cheaper. I've never seen Silvril BP/lLegs, and there's no way I'd give up my Imbued Feysteel in those slots anyway, but I'm wearing Silvril boots and shoulders, debating buying a helm/bracers/gloves if I see them on the market. The look seems identical to Feysteel. Questions: 1) Where does this stuff drop? Or the components, if it is crafted? 2) Did I just get lucky on the price, or is it routinely cheaper than Feysteel? 3) If there was a BP/Legs, could it be imbued?
Message Edited by Oakbrow on 05-02-2005 03:06 PM

Message Edited by Oakbrow on 05-03-2005 10:23 AM

Silvril? I had a complete set (well Ive still got it in the hopes that one say you'll be able to mount suits of armour in your home). Its pretty good, not quite as shiny as Feysteel, but then defintely a lot cheaper. It took me a couple of weeks of keeping my eye on the broker for bargins to assemble a set. Unless you're rolling in cash and can afford a complete suit of Feysteel Id recommend considering it and just getting the feysteel BPs and legs. Unfortunately as a dropped item it cant be imbued, hence go for a feysteel chest and legs. As to where it drops, Ive had the spauders drop off the swine lord in the Nektopolos castle stables, apparently the Specter of Ire can drop it too.

The difference between Silvril (now that I come closer to spelling it ) and Feysteel does not seem to be huge. Especially when Silvril is soo much cheaper. Unless I just got insanely lucky, the pieces I have were selling for about 25% of Feysteel for the same slot.

25% cheaper ? a) silvril is expensive on your server. b) feysteel is cheap on your server i've tryed (and still trying) to sell this [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] silvril barbute for 5g for over a month or 2... pristine feysteel barbute sell around 40g on my server....

25% cheaper ? a) silvril is expensive on your server. b) feysteel is cheap on your server No....other way around. What I said was 25% of Feysteel, meaning 75% cheaper. Sometimes spiking to 90% cheaper, depending on the market at a particular time. For example, on my server, Feysteel tends to go for 40+ gold for imbued BP/Legs. Other pieces tend to run 30ish gold, if you can find them, which isn't often. Silvril seems to run 5-8 gold, sometimes spiking to 10-12 gold if there's not much else on the market for that slot.

I am not sure of the side by side comparisons, been a while.

Feysteel maxes higher and can be worn beginning lower I think. Also there are small differences in several categories, these stats add up when you look at the whole package. Maxed Feysteel is better than Fulginate. So you will wear feysteel for 14 levels or so if you buy at 30.

A good mid range alternative is Coal Forged. That is a nice BP. There are legs too all will coal in the name I think.

Biggest problem iwth silvril is asthetics. It is gold and the rest is grey or black so it is hard to match it. If you care about that.

hmm, like i said it has bee a while, you are right, it matches the feysteel but not the feyiron or the coal forged.

The lvl 24 or 25 Named Mobs in COB drop Sivirl. I remember I got a couple of pieces when I was doing a Armor Quest. Those things sat in my back for a LONG time. I can't remember this, but compair the lvl cap and mitigation on the 2 armors. I wore parts of my FeySteel set until lvl 43. Mitigation and most stats are higher on Feysteel when moving into normal T5 armor. Only hit you take is in the resists. If you spring for FeySteel, plan on wearing it for a LONG time. Might look cool now but trust me, you'll get sick of looking at rusty armor Raymond 45 Paladin

Silvril drops in EL, RE, Nek castle, and higher end mobs in CoB. Boots and spaulders drop in Nek I beleive, think I have gotten bracers in EL and helm in RE.

I am not currently wearing a fullsuit, my suit is fairly mixed between silvril and other good non-master drops....and even though I can make my own suit of feysteel, or feyiron...I dont wear any crafted items except my shield.

The majority of silvril's lvls for wear are 32-37 and 33-38. A full suit of feysteel is signifigantly better, but, unless you are i na high end guild, and have plenty of money...or if you have combat xp turned off and plan on being in T4 for 6 months, I dont recommend spending your money on it....unless your on unrest and want me to make you some....

Silvril also drops from orcs, lvl 30+ normal mobs, in Zek. Not the most common as a standard chest will have orc marauder armour in it, so you need to hope when a bigger chest drops that its not an adept - soloing 2 complete lvls, on orcs, from 30-32 netted me 2 pairs of silvril boots, 1 helm and a pair of legs plus 1 feysteel cluster from harvesting in downtime!

Quick and easy way to lvl solo - gained about 18% xp per hour plus fabled body loot sells for just short of 50silver.

Last week I got a pair of silvril boots from the Octagorgon while helping someone with their PGT quest.

Unless coin isn't an issue ...

I would start with a good set of feyiron, hunt loot drops for silvril and purchase as coin permits while harvesting and saving for some feysteel replacements that are better then tier 5 fulginate until around level 44.

A guardian in my guild still wears feysteel at 43 and tanks quite well in Lavastorm in Sol.

Now if I could just find someone to turn my ebon cluster and luminous extract into a pristine imbued ebon breastplate on Najena server, I'd be set. I've had my current ebon cluster for 30+ days and can't find a 49/50 armorsmith to make the goods.

Thanks,

Kalen
