As I recall, the original reason for nerfing Pally mount speed was that it unfairly allowed us escape a loosing fight. Now, it is stupidly easy to escape a fight for anyone, just run a few seconds in a single direction. It shouldn't matter now how fast the mount is.

Mounts have always been a status symbol and people wanted it to remain that way. I agree, it shouldn't matter, but in these games it always does. I am just going to wait it out. I would bet that an expansion or two down the road, crusaders will have the ability to summon a decent horse via spell or some sort of alternate advancement.

17

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it...I just thought it was funny that people cried about pally's being able to escape easier, so the nerfed the steed, but people still cried, so they nerfed mobs.

I never use my mount anymore... the 10% speed increase is not worth looking stupid running on a slow motion horse - I had hoped the /hide_illusions would work but alas Jeffery won't disappear. The speed bonus is good for that runnign herritage quest and the horse is good for screenshots - but that's about it.

i don't see a point to the horse now.. it still has the restrictions of only outdoors, you can't sprint while on it, and it's too slow to even bother.. if yer traveling, kicking on sprint when you can will actually get you there faster, (albeit out of power).. if they wanted to change the fluff spell, either take out the horse and make it something else, or move it to the lvl 50 fluff spot, and make it a real horse.. as it is now, i wish i hadn't even bothered buying the silly thing

I payed 3.68pp to have a horse that runs 32% u get a horse that runs 10% for free, be happy uve got one, because quite frankly i dont know why a paladin even has a horse for free and another class doesnt. When u work your way to get something like a horse in this game it means something, now you just have to work for one like everyone else now, well a better one anyways cause u already got one, so be happy.

If you wold use Jboots then using Holy Steed is jsut as good for movement.

C) Holy steed is a fluff spell that still is more usefull than any other classes fluff spell. IF you want more than fluff from a fluff spell your just greedy.

Want a real horse? Go out and earn it like everyone else.

I'm fond of my "fluff" horse. He looks good, could use an armor graphic, but otherwise seems appropriate for what he is. I do miss the speed we once had, but then again, Farghus is a Troll in full plate. Stands head and shoulders taller than most Barbarians, and is almost as big as an Ogre. Not many horses are going to carry him very fast anyway. Now if I could just use a lance, and find a windmill to tilt at.....

I think the horse looks like an escapee from a Merry-Go-Round. I prefer the flowing mane and tail.

The reason for nerfing the horse is that it was supposed to be a "fun" spell. Other classes got illusions or glowing hands (woo woo!). We got a what, 24% or something horse? Wasn't terribly fair. Now, if they had made it a simple part of the progression of spells, instead of making it the fun spell, people would have whined just as much but had a lot less leg to stand on.

So we lost the horse and I'm out 3p plus for a decent 32% horse instead.

Cest La Vie.
