You basically need almost a full group with a healer. Without a healer there is no way you are surviving at 21.

Thanks!

You can take him down with 4 group members ranging 21-23 level as long as you use HOs effectively. I was playing (22 ratonga assassin at the time, with a 22 SK, 23 inquis and 21 wizard).

I started the HOs, the SK "kicked to advance to healer" or "taunted to advance to the wiz". It was my job to "flip" or change the combat wheel to a damaging attack when required. We were very nervous about engaging him at this level without 6 and likewise very surprised we defeated him easier then I thought prossible.

I remember doing AQ2 at 20 or 21 and finding it difficult with a group of 6 at the same level, but back then I didn't utilize HOs like I do today. Take some time to invest in learning about them all now and you'll be a master in a few levels and find tons of the content in-game much easier then without them. I will not claim uber leetness either, these alts all had experienced players in the 40's playing the 20 alt toons and gear was very top notch from questing and a wee bit of twinking.

If you MT, have 2 healers and 3 dps all ranging from 20-24, you'll do very well.

Good luck!,

Kalen

When I did my AQ2 I do remember having a fairly large group for this, but we did it with 3, on Tuesday.

It can be done by a well skilled duo. I have killed Grolven Chiptooth twice now dual boxing. Both times I was using a lvl22 templar on one account. In one case I tanked with the templar and dealt out damage with a lvl21 Ranger on the other account. In the second case I tanked with a lvl21 Paladin. HOs are important as was mentioned. It did take two attempts each time and the successfull kills were very close but not as difficult as some other stuff I have taken down dual boxing.

I Killed chiptooth at lvl 20 with my pocket healer mystic (lvl 20) with ease. SO you DO NOT need a full group of heavy help. wish I knew I needed him for AQ2 before I diced him up when doing AQ1 lol.

Just to provide an update...

I originally asked this question at lvl 20 and I've managed to get to 22 and finish all other parts of AQ2 (the broodtenders were a pain, but I solo'd the single spawn down in bb...did this all the way from lvl 20 to 22). Sadly, I haven't killed Chiptooth yet..haven't even tried. I got sidetracked working on the Dusty Blue Stone quest. I figured once I head up to Stormhold, I'm not coming out until I have a weakened Ghoulbane in my pocket. Eventually I will get Chiptooth, but I've bought alot of pristine carbonate plate and not sure going for the quest stuff is going to be worth it.

I did him lastnight with a lvl24 guardian as my MT. He took 2 tries but we got him and we only had about 25% health and no power left at the end but we got him.

It was a really tough fight but we had a blast doing it.

Trioed him last night for a guild applicant... 21 Guardian (the applicant), he was 2-boxing a 21 Warden, I was playing a 22 Mystic alt. He had tried with just the Warden, but failed, so I came out with the Mystic to help. Armor was the main issue in the first failure, I think... he was wearing several grey pieces, so I logged on my armorer and gave him a suit of carbonite vanguard after the kill.

I'd just like to note that this guy killed me all the time back in my early 20's (i used to charge through that area always forgetting he was there). So, I make it a point to beat the living crap out of him every time i can now. I'm lvl 40 now btw. I don't pass through antonnica without beating him down.

A grey, no exp, no loot mob for you (and he drops no loot if he's not grey, too), that is REQUIRED for many classes to progress on their armor quests. Every time he gets killed by some high-level toon, some level 20 guy is wondering why he hasn't spawned yet.

I say good, the 20 or so level guy is getting the taste of what this game is ALL about: waiting for nameds to spawn.

Last night I was in Antonica harvesting and listening to /ooc, and someone attempting the betrayal quest got ganked twice, once on Sarn the Wayfarer and once on Dancoed of the Pine, both times by the same level 50 character, both times after /ooc'ing for help killing the mob. None of those three mobs are used in any level 30+ quests, and none of them drop loot even if they're green.

A few days ago in Enchanted Lands, I wantched a group forming up to kill Chomper, who was pulled and killed by a level 48 Conjuror (to whom the mob is grey), RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GROUP. Chomper, in case you didn't know, has a 4-hr spawn time... 2 members of that group had been waiting for the last 1.5 hours for the mob... (I asked the Conjuror... he already had the Bag of Sewn Evil Eye, so he needed no quest credit.)

Waiting for spawn is fine and good, and yes, it IS part of the game (despite SOE saying it wouldn't be). When someone 20-30 levels above the zone comes in and kills the mob you've been waiting for (kills the mob FOR NO REASON), that's just really sad and annoying, and could be considered greifing in some cases.

Message Edited by Jgok on 05-11-2005 03:03 PM

Soloed easy with both my Paladin and my Monk at Level 23 (Blue ^ ^ Heroic at the time).

Even at 24, my Monk goes back there from time to time while harvesting and collecting and if no one needs him, I go ahead and give him the beat down he deserves (He'a a Green ^ ^ Heroic at 24)...... :smileyhappy:

T

Duo'd him with a 22 pally and 22 wizard without a problem. I (pally) just kept warding and healing myself while my wife's wizzy blasted away. He wasn't a problem for us.

A group of 4 with one of each class can do amazing things with HO's. It drives me insane that 95% of the people I group with won't even contribute to a HO let alone start one when they can be so amazing usefull.

I was in a three preist group and I was the only one using HO's, despite the fact that all three of use used priest DD's and using a HO is free damage.
