I'm interested in hearing people's pally strategies for raiding. Please don't turn this into a "can Paladins MT raids" thread, as my guild already has a very capable MT. <div></div>

Ony raided a couple of times but I Healed / nuked and if you are in the main group buff the MT. One advanatage of our below par taunts is I could mana-burn and literally raced though my most damging spells and never once got agro from that. Even if you do get a big add, you can last pretty well and even if you are hain healing yourself the MT can easily taunt the mob off you (if he is a warrior). In a raid sense I found you didn't need much skill just button mashing will get you through. <div></div>

<div></div>ive been in few but this is what i did: offered my adarnment made sure i vigor of streagthed him (pius beliefe or whatever) and any other buff spell intervene and all buff then i warded him through out the fight also, LOH when he was low and spot healing, also doing HO's starting them getting them to midway and letting him finish them off that way he gets alota agro, and more dmg is done on mob Also use any other buffs as a human i got leadership wich is pritty cool +5def and any master rages that apply you prob knew all that but thats what i do =) <div></div><p>Message Edited by jshariat on <span class=date_text>04-26-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:58 PM</span>

<DIV>Not a raid, but taking on a raid guy. I was in the group with 3 other pallys the other night. I'm lvl 32 an have never been in full group with other pallys before. I noticed that alot of skills don't stack, which is very anoying. </DIV> <DIV>I also noticed that when you cast oath strike or other spells that have a damage over time attack, if someone has already cast it you have to wait for the Damage over time to finish before another pally can use it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is this a bug? or just the way its ment to be?</DIV>

<P>personally in raids I am always in MTs groups giving him our pally love skills like gift of armament etc, if things get ugly i ward/heal him, soon ill be using screaming mace (reduces agro gives power and stats proc) so ill be able to do pretty much whatever i like without being careful about agro <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P> <P>Steelle</P> <P>lvl50 paladin</P>

Plus the fact that you can't single-target buff the MT if you are not in his group is disappointing. Add to that the fact that they are going to cap mitigation buff soon makes it so that the single-target buffs seem like they are going to be useless if there are enough other group buffs makes me wonder if the only thing I'm going to do in raids is be the last healer standing when raid gets AE'd. In the 50+ raids I've done so far, it seems like I'm just there to run around combat rezzing people ...</span><div></div>

The fact that we can tank if things go bad, our heals, LOH and combat rez are what makes us so valued in raids. We're extremely well-rounded. We went into Maiden's gulch the other night and I kept us going b/c I was able to rez several people who fell due to AOEs and were able to get right back up again at full power b/c of me, while the main healer could stay focused on the MT. Another time the MT fell and I was able to take over while the healer brought the MT back and got him back up to speed before I handed it back. A few guildies were surprised b/c I think they're so used to how gimped we were in the early days of EQ1. It's nice to see people's opinions change when you play well. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> - Ravynn 49 Paladin <div></div>

<DIV>I have been raiding for over two months but until i got into trinity (kithacor best one hehe imo) i really didnt have a clue what was asked of me...when we fight mobs that use massive attacks like slash or crush i am in first group...since our buffs i believe are second to none like crusade...i am only paladin in guild...Of coarse our rez is second to none...by the way can we upgrade it???...our heal when needed...and great dps along with our stuns which effect epics no problem...and if things go bad even tank...but tanking isnt even a case cause our tank (guardian) is leet...if i am in second or third group i try to protect caster who might get agrro redemtion/intervien...or buff assasin and healer in that said group...Lots of things to do love to read more on this...</DIV><p>Message Edited by Skabanis on <span class=date_text>04-27-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:09 PM</span>

Never actually read the description. But our rez works as long as you turn auto-attack off for a sec while you cast it. <div></div>
<DIV>The problem with multiple Paladins in a single group during a raid is DOT (damage over time). If the first Paladin uses a DOT attack, the next Paladin will receive a message that it's not possible to use at this time. This doesn't mean your spell is broken or not working, it means your spell won't stack with the other Paladin's DOT. Solution: Wait until the other DOT is complete and start your own.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If another Paladin has already cast Prayer of Devotion, you will not be able to cast that spell until the buff/ward expires. Solution: The highest Paladin in the group should cast the prayer if all Paladin's are OT. If one Paladin is the MT, the MT should be the only player using the prayer to allow them more aggro management. I have yet to run into aggro management issues with a Guardian as MT working hard to hold aggro and a Paladin working on HOs and using taunts to complete them. Our taunts alone will not usually steal the HO if the Guardian is working hard on aggro management. Our wards and buffs when used inappropriately are another story. I suggest prayer/call to glory/initial ward/etc. prior to the actual engagement to avoid aggro management issues.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you have a raid with multiple Paladins, one is nice in the raid MT group to offer higher AC, assist heal, group wards/buffs, etc. The other Paladin if appropriate level would be a great MT in the off group outside the raid MT group. Paladins can rez at level 44 with a 40 percent mana/health pickup with is VERY UBER.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A Paladin not serving the role of MT would benefit most by using a two-hander and replacing the shield bash with the two-hander attack for more dps. Paladin's do pretty nice dps when OT'ing. If I'm in the OT role yet still part of the raid tanks group, I avoid healing on the MT unless their health drops significantly. If so, I'll toss in one or two heals to help get health back in the green or high yellow. Our wards burn so much mana and generate significant hate I try to avoid unless I have no choice during the actual encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I pick up adds in the OT non raid tank group role (when merited), I only taunt once to catch aggro which will allows the raid MT to easily get back aggro when desired. The only time I sword & board in the OT non raid group is if I have a mage class doing a lot of HOs that require my shield bash to complete. The rest of the time it's 2-hander magic for additional dps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV> <DIV>Kalen</DIV>
