View Full Version : Colorized Pull Text - How To Guide
<DIV>I've had several tanks/non-tanks ask me how to colorize text for pulls into a maco. I've decided to list the steps very quickly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. Hit EQ2 button</DIV> <DIV>2. Choose "Socials"</DIV> <DIV>3. Choose "Macros"</DIV> <DIV>4. Create a new macro and name it "Pull"</DIV> <DIV>5. The command syntax is listed below</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Normal text color simple example: The percent t is a variable that substitutes the mob's name you have selected.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/g Pulling %t</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Normal text color for the word Pulling followed by the target (%t) appearing in red text</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/g Pulling #ff0000 %t</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>6. Once you enter the color value it's possible to immediately change the color by adding a backslash in front of the pound sign (#). The backslash is the symbol just above the Enter key.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>7. Once you see the text turn red, select an icon for the macro, save, and drag/drop onto a hotkey bar.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Obviously the /g will list the pull in the group window only. You may likewise substitute any color you like for the RED text by using a different color value -- search on Google/AltaVista/Yahoo for HTML Color Chart for a range of colors.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I got so bored camping a mob one night and so many people were dinging in guild chat, I made a macro that reads:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ff0000>G</FONT> <FONT color=#ff6600>R</FONT> <FONT color=#ffff00>A</FONT> <FONT color=#66ff00>T</FONT> <FONT color=#3333ff>Z</FONT> <FONT color=#cc00ff>!</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#cc00ff></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ffffff>It was intended as a joke at first, but makes keeping up with congratulations on dings for guildies easy <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV> <DIV>Kalen</DIV>

Could you explain what you mean by number 6? I know all about macros and color codes, but I'm really not sure what you're saying by this one. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<div></div>When you have your macro typed in as in the example: /g Pulling #FF0000%T You arrow back to the beginning of the #FF0000 and drop the right in front of the #. This will change the color of all the text that is after the color code to the color of the color code. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Darkith on <span class=date_text>04-15-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:32 AM</span>

Arrrgh. Can I be the first to say that this is annoying as heck. People who shout or ooc with this crap get auto ignored, and groupmates with bright red pull messages drive me up the wall and out of the group in a hurry. I don't care if people are so unattentive to tell when someone is pulling that <FONT color=#ff0000>it has to be shouted at them</FONT>, I have my colors set a specific way for a reason, and I don't want people screwing with them. <DIV> </DIV>

I've never had any complaints, actually it's always been the opposite. In pickup groups when I use my spiffy colored INC macro I usually get tells from each member in the group asking me how to change the text colors. <span></span> I've even gotten tells from people who have been in groups with someone that I had explained how to do it, saying that said person told them that I would be able to explain how to do it for them. <span>:smileyvery-happy:</span> <div></div>

<P>Can't get this to work <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>Was trying it out in /say and using the macro the #ff0000 would show up in say. Like </P> <P>'Test #ff0000 red'</P> <P>instead of changing the color.</P> <P> </P>

<div></div>Delete the space between #FF0000 and red. Then put a in front of the #. It will remove the #FF0000 and turn the word red the color red. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Darkith on <span class=date_text>04-17-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:58 PM</span>

Maybe I'm missing something. I can type in the color code and get the text to change to that color, but when I press enter to send the message nothing comes up. Did they break this in one of the patches? Any help would be appreciated. <div></div>
