"Assist" Key

Does anyone use the "assist" key?  I just noticed under options that there is an "assist" key that seems to be undefined for me.  I have set it to "insert" but haven't had a chance to actually try it out yet. Does it simply "assist" whoever you have targetted? What key do you have it bound to? <div></div>

When I am not tanking I use a macro that does /assist <name of tank here>. You don't have to have them targeted you just have to mash the button to get their target. <div></div>

In EQ1, if you double-tapped (ie, pressed it again with him or her already targeted) a Function key corresponding to a groupmate, you'd automatically target his or her pet.  It would be super keen if, in EQ2, double-tapping one of them would assist automatically.  And double-tapping F1 would target your own pet, to keep the summoners happy.
