Mmm fair point, 5% on the fluff spell and 5% perminant buff would work though

Let's leave it the way it is, and just move on.

No, just an optical illusion that makes it appear you are sitting on a horse and going slower than you were before.

We do have a horse indeed, but hundreds of people from the "jealous whiners" guild gathered to summon some demon who cast a permanent snare effect curse on them.

Get over the horse already, it was game breaking and a fun spell that was implemented wrong.... Save up some money and go buy a real horse instead of whining about the whiners who got your 14s horse made to be worth the money. Pre-order JBoots cost $4.95 'real money' to get, or upwards of a plat to get on a brooker. - For 10% speed buff The middle tier 32% Horse costs > 3plat to get - For a 32% Speed Buff Our old horse cost 14silver and we got a 32% Speed Buff, now its a 10% speed buff...so we still make out. Or we could have kept the horse and since Paladin's were becoming the most played class because of it, got nerfed to high heck because so many people were flocking to the class.

Bah- I am not going to forget about horses. For one thing the horse of a paladin/sk is a tradition of not only everquest but rpg's across the board and historical reference. SOE was reactive on this one and wrong. They bent in to pressure from other classes because the paladin/sk looked really good at the beginning levels due to the 'horse'. Now that players are reaching the higher end and guilds are able to get faster horses people are really seeing that this spell was not as detrimental as many believed. But to any paladin or sk the horse is a very much needed 'rpg' spell that makes us different from guardians. In fact what Soe should have done was create spells such as charge and lance that intertwined this knight class with thier horse. This argument is not going away- basically other classes were jealous and showed how they could manipulate SOE through the boards and whining. Well they were wrong and as people reach the 50's the whole nerf looks like egg on SOE's face. Just my 2 cents.

Message Edited by Ironbrand on 04-06-2005 04:51 AM

I'm not too mad about the speed reduction nerf thingy... its just now when I I cast my horse and start to "gallop" away I appear to be moving slower that walking... I know this is an optical illusion but it seems as if I am running in slow motion and quite frankly it just looks silly.

It's kind of beating a dead horse (dead horse - get it?), but it has been stated in several threads that SOE didn't reduce the horse speed because of the whining. There was massive lag in zones caused by all the horses running around at 32%+ run speed. That's why they nerfed horse speed in general as well in the same patch.

Here's my conspiracy theory of the day: SOE lied about it being a bug from the beginning. If it had been such a glaring oversight being used by the most common (or second most common depending on your server) class, then it would have been nerfed very early in release or even in Beta.

Beating a dead horse would be asking for the nerf to go away, which I don't. I'm just mad at the way it was done : because other people (yes the one we play with regularly, those I used to help when they were fleeing away from a mob -- now they can die :smileyvery-happy: ) wanted it. And I'll never ever believe the ...

There was massive lag in zones caused by all the horses running around at 32%+ run speed. They said they'd do that because they never intended us to break encounters that easily. Whoever thinks the lag issue is true seems pretty guileless to me.

My horse is like the one on Ren and Stimpy. He wears a suit and tie and makes silly faces while contemplating serious questions such as what he thinks of a certain kitty litter -- No sir, he didn't like it. I never ride him anymore because he's a big successful business horse now, but all the fame and luxurious lifestyle has made him put on some extra weight, thus he moves slower than before. Ahh memories. Be well Mr. Horse. 17
