<DIV>Its true. Every now and then, I like not having the responsibility of keeping all mobs on me. I like to bust out my 2h sword and dish out some dps. I, like many others, have been wanting to shed the "add tank" label. In this game, truly I think they've done it, but also I must say, we do indeed make great backup tanks and utility. The most fun I've had in a long time was going through the first quest of the bloodlines deal with a pretty decent group. It was a 35 monk, me a lvl 32 at the time, a lvl 31 illusionist, 30 warden, and 28 necromancer. We had some intense fights, especially during the mini named to spawn the scouts/rocks, but in this situations is where I shined. Many many MANY times throughout this dungeon, if it wasn't for my heal or my ward, we would have lost our healer or our cc, and probably would have wiped(except for a FD monk <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />). Most people would say "we need another healer" but fact of the matter, if you got me in your group, you dont. My direct heals are maybe 50 points less than a healer of equal level, and a ward saving someones [Removed for Content] for 2-3 hits is a huge help. It makes fights much more interesting and intense when you have to target your team mates and ward/heal them during a big battle, then switch back to the main assist and whoop on the mob some more until your heals and wards are needed again. At the end of the fight, power is almost nil, hp is anywhere from red to yellow, and a huge sense of accomplishment follows. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I love my paladin. I love tanking, I love backup tanking / healing. I am a tank, but I don't mind for a second stepping back and letting someone else do the job. Trust me, I get just as much sense of importance as both roles. I hate to toot my own horn, but we rock. That is all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>17</DIV>

Indeed! Intelligent off tanking can be fun: intercepting any potential aggro, pealing off mobs from group members whom have drawn it off the tank, pealing off a main mobs adds and so forth. Unfortunately its rare that Ive been in groups whom will consider this, typically the only thing they can grunt out is "All assist MT". But anyway, it is indeed fun to not have to always shoulder the responsiblity of tanking, to enjoy the game rather than worrying about hate management constantly. <div></div>

<DIV>I usually prefer to off-tank. I enjoy being MT, but I like off-tanking better. When I off tank, I am more able to use my utility techniques, since I don't have to save power ofr taunts and other specials. If I off-tank, I can use more wards, and the occasional heal thrown in there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also like the fact that if anyone other then the MT gets aggro, I can quickly take the aggro from them and hold it until the MT can regain it.</DIV>

I do enjoy off-tanking as well... and as I expressed to my Warden buddy of mine... I make him look good and the tank look fantastic. Unfortunetly its that transparant help where everyone else in the group thinks you are slacking and they could do better with another scout. <div></div>

I really enjoy it also. I like throwing out heals when things get rough also helping the main healers not create as much hate. I also get a lot of laughs from being the secondary tank. A lot of times when the healers are out of power and people are about to die, I throw some heals and save them but at the end of the fight, everyone says GREAT JOB <insert name of healer>:smileywink:.

I prefer to tank, but have no problem stepping back if anotehr tank shows up. We do have a lot of abilities to assist MT (like offering of Armament, and wards). I know i can usually spam my ward on the main tank, and he rarely takes dmg, meaning teh healer rarely has to heal. <div></div>
