<DIV>I've been reading the paladin forum and it seems we are basically weapons/armor centered. I don't have a paladin yet myself as time is limited sadly. I was wondering what would be better, to craft my own armor or weapons? There is a thread in here asking about 2handers. Nearly everyone in the thread agrees that player crafted 2 handers are the way to got for mid levels. Ta various points they advocate the electrified bbc, ghoulbane, or other quested weapons, but not majorly. However, the weaposn they do tend to suggest seem to be rares. My other choice for my paladin would be provisioner. The craft is easya nd fun, you make your own food. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Arconox 18 Brawler</DIV> <DIV>Oryon 13 Crusader </DIV> <DIV>Both on Faydark</DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2>Where a tradeskill is concerned, I would <STRONG>strongly</STRONG> advise that you choose something that you'll enjoy, as opposed to something that's useful. 90% of the people that opt for the latter end up falling by the wayside.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>As far as options are concerned, if you want a class that can offer direct relevance to your Paladin, then your options are Armorer, Weaponsmith, Provisioner or Alchemist. You should bear in mind however, that at present, Weaponsmiths are generally viewed as 'broken'. I don't personally agree, but that's the consensus. On the plus side though, the recent addition of new recipes for them should have a positive impact.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>An Armorer would perhaps have the most distinctly obvious effect, allowing you fill six of your character slots every ten levels (not counting rares)....assuming that you keep your trade levels ahead of your adventurer ones.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>A Weaponsmith would allow you to be self-sufficient where weapons are concerned but, unfortunately perhaps, a Paladin's best weapons are quest based. Carbonite and above weapons shouldn't be discounted, though. Keep in mind that a weaponsmith can only fill one or two slots on a character at a time. The scope for sales, if you're looking for profit, is significantly lower than that of an armorer.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Provisioners offer a benefit that isn't immediately apparent - but which offers a very distinct advantage. Simply put, they increase your kill rate significantly. Player made food, while not required, will have a huge impact on your down time, lowering it by a fairly large amount. Less down time = more kills. The downside here is that making food is a time consuming process. Even the more basic types of food and drink can take almost an hour per stack to make. The lengthier conconctions are upwards of two hours worth of combines. It can make the loss of a food or drink buff painful when you die - to say nothing of the fact that you'll periodically be required to make a stack of grey con items. It's....tedious.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>An Alchemist is required to make your skills - this opens the route of upgrading your own. Later into the game, this can and will save you a lot of money...and any rares you find will allow you to make Adept III's if you're lucky.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>One other to consider is a Jeweller. Personally, I think they've got one of the best selling routes. <EM>Everyone</EM> needs jewellery - and there are five slots to cover.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>As I mentioned - pick something you enjoy. Ultimately, that's what it has to be about. Tradeskills are too much of a long term commitment to do them for any other reason. As I mentioned above, for your tradeskill to really be of use, you'll need to keep it about five levels ahead of your adventurer in almost every school (Provisioners are a potential exception here). As you level up, that gets to be a <EM>huge</EM> time investment.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Whatever you opt for though, enjoy!</FONT></DIV>

As a provisioner, withthe new patch that makes it so i must go out and make all the little comonents b4 i can even make make drink/food has made it a real bummer fer me. Artisan life was always secondary to me and really just made enough fer me and my friends. But now that it is really really time consuming, i have not made any in a long time. So think about that too....how much time do you have or will you have or will you want to spend an Artisan. It's a whole different ballgame now aftre the patch. I kinda reccommend not even bothering unless you really like wandering around and harvesting to get ur ingredients fer the smaller comonents. BTW, not much money in Provisioner either, unless you do teir 3.

I agree ... find something you enjoy. I picked armorer because I thought it would be useful to make my own armor, but the it's dificult to keep my armorer level up with my adventurer level. I am now a 46 pally/34 armorer, and all the armor I make is gray to me, so I've learned to armor just for armor's sake and give up on being able to make my own equip. Of course, I lived through interdependency, so maybe this has all changed ... <div></div>
