<DIV>bit of a silly question...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>check the spell lists out on various boards, ask paladins ingame for specific spells/gear questions and seek the other threads on detailed spell data and statistics.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The paladin can heal, buff, debuff, ward, tank, off-tank (support main tank), DPS and rez ... well at some point in your journey they can do all this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But they excel in none of the above apart from tanking or being the focus of aggro which is their main task.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But like all classes, its not essentially the player class or equipment, its the person playing which will determine how good you are.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Enjoy..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ach - Level 50 pally - Kithikor Sever</DIV>

A templar is a tank/heal class that leans more towards healing. A paladin is leaning more towards melee. We get some good heals and by lvl 23 is when you get your first repeatable heal.

<DIV> A templar is only a healing class, they can't tank at all, paladins are tanks like guardians that sacrifice a few things like variety of taunts for heals and wards. Paladins are a very versatile class that can tank great and support well too.</DIV>

Check it out and see what we get.<BR></DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Dalensbane16 wrote:<BR> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Whats fighting like? Do you get some healing spells?</DIV> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE> <DIV>We're half caster, half melee, part healer, full tank. That's probably the best way to put it. Half of our combat arts are spells, and can fizzle, be interrupted, and also be resisted (we have one attack that is unresistable). The other half of our combat arts are melee attacks. We have very few debuffs, but the slashing one we have is really nice (and hopefully the crushing debuff will be nice after this patch). We can heal pretty well. I've been able to tank in a 5 man group w/o a healer going against yellow group mobs, but it's pretty hard to do, and I wouldn't recommend doing it a lot. The heals help out a lot with downtime while we're soloing, and they're really nice to keep that silly caster who pulls agro off me alive. We also get wards, but the only use for them is the +1% hate increase. It's much more power efficient to use a heal instead of the ward if you're not having any agro problems. Near end-game, our DPS is pretty nice, but nothing to write home about. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We're a pretty good class, and for the most part pretty balanced in the way the system is. I would recommend, though, that if you're wanting to eventually tank high-end raids, then you should go Guardian. It's not that we can't tank as good as Guardians, because IMO we tank better, but because the sterotype is still around that Guardians make the best tanks. I think they make the best backup tanks, but meh, that's a different reply for a different thread. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR></DIV>

I often times am able to pull aggro off using heals and wards that guardians do not have =). the way most people react to my ability to maintain aggro it leads me to believe they haven't had good experiences in the past. </span><div></div>

<P>As for 'what they are like', that is pretty subjective.</P> <P>I have played both a guardian and a paladin. I actually found guardian kind of boring at times - he just didn't seem overly exciting to play, his skills didn't look very interesting to me, and the graphic change (bow) when pulling just struck me the wrong way. When I hit things with a skill, it would show a fiery-smoky trail, but nothing really dynamic.</P> <P>With my paladin, I have cool graphics. I pull with lightning. I like alot of the other graphics within the class. And when I play it, it just feels more exciting / interesting. Lots of light and colors and electricity flying around.</P> <P>Functionally, they really aren't that different for the most part. I play the same roles (MT) with both. But the paladin just 'feels' more fun to me.</P>
Well I am a strictly heal/dps Paladin, ya would be surprised oh effective your spells are with maxed Int. I find in easier to solo if i go DPS mode I try to find plate armor with int and try and get other types of int equipment. And having the Legionaire AA line maxed helps a bit too.
