<DIV>So far, the ONLY time a horse is useful to begin with is travelling from place to place, and harvesting.  These asa  34th level paladin are not that grand.  I had already planned on upgrading to another horse soon anyway to gain some additional speed so no big deal.  Oh you say, they are expensive.  Well of course they are.  But that is kind of the point.  If you take the time to harvest and make some money....  Rares sell wonderfully.  You can easily be on a new horse.  So really, this is no biggie, I didn't even realize paladins got a horse to begin with.  I was like well cool.  Then as people started getting faster horses, I said, guess that is my next big purchase.  So I have been saving my pennies and tradeskilling to help pay for that wonderful steed of speed.  Once you hit 30+ money is not near as tight as the early levels.  But I really do like the kick in the pants the main complainers got.  So this really should be a lesson to all, keep your mouth shut otherwise you may just draw the spotlight to yourself as well.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Overall the only thing about the patch that is really going to hit home to EVERYONE is tradeskilling.  This is really where it is gunna hurt some peeps.  Mainly, now that player made food is recognized as being very good but very costly.  Think about this...  A provisioner at T5 makes a 3 hour drink, this requires a minimum of 3 combines to achieve at all tiers btw.  Tier 5 fuel on test is set to cost 15sp a unit.  So 3x15=45, for a stack of anything requiring 3 combines it is an additional 9 gold that is going to be tacked onto your daily living expenses.  This seems to be a much more important thing to me as food and drink are so important.  So lets not be like other classes and whine all day about it.  Just snub this little change off and focus on truely game altering effects such as the changes they are wanting to make.  Yes I am a bit biased as I am a provisioner, but as I don't sell to player to begin with this is a non-factor to me.  And as an FYI, the only reason I don't sell to players is because I feed my guild.  What food I have left from harvests I do tradeskill tasks to cover expenses.  But if I could I would love to sell to other players.  But as things currently stand, there is no possible way for me to create enough food for a guild and sell to players.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know I went of on a side tangent, but that was the point, lets not let little things hinder us, keep the bigger more reaching things keep us from our goals.  </DIV>

<DIV>I totally agree with you. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>While the horse nerf is exccesive, IMO the changes being made to tradeskills is where the real meat of this update is. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Go check out any of the tradeskill boards. See for yourself.</DIV>

<DIV>So what about the horse speed..  I think thats pretty insignifigant compared to the Nerfing of our damage output.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Some wizzys spells for increased 350%.  Did they need this?  Yes.</DIV> <DIV>Our damage got Decreased.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Our damage output got Nerfed.   Plain and simple.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, if you think about this, whats that going to do to our already precarious hold on Aggro?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We didnt need nerfed... Wizzys needed the DPS boost, yes... but decreasing our damage is going to make it awful hard to keep ahold of aggro now.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But, then again... we are talking about SoE...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I'm a bit confused as to why you are taking this so negatively Hawktel.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The horse was a seriously overpowered item only available to two subclasses.  It had a speed equal to the 2.75pp store bought horse.  It was faster than Scout's Pathfinding and faster than pre-release Jboots, it also stacked with certain other speed buff spells.  Its well known that Paladins & Shadowknights could fight a mob and if losing get away every time even with zero power.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Everyone elses fluff spells had zero effect on gameplay, read that again, ZERO effect on gameplay, emotes, non-fighting pets etc.  So why is it so difficult to understand that other players were a bit annoyed that they seemed to be getting the shaft?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm glad they reduced the speed, even gladder that they left it with 10% bonus, which I think is very generous.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>*starts to feel like an old record*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Remove the horse as a fluff spell, add it as a Class defining quest reward somewhere around level 35 and give us something nice to look at at level 20 instead. Whiner problem solved.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I agree with torm completely why it was never a core spell is beyond me.  Give us Spirit of the Horse or something that acts like sow but jsut has us mounted instead of on foot.  Fluff spells SHOULD be just fluff.  The problem is that they are not.  It is untrue that ours were the only usefull ones.  I know wizards and rangers who swear by thier pets because they can get the pet to gain aggro everytime.  Once you learn how its easy to do wiht a pet.  Our level 40 Is probably the same way though i have not heard much about the squire.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did not make my Pally because i wanted a horse.  I liked the rest of the package the horse was just nice.  I have worked and saved up nearly enough to get the first bought horse as I did not like our merry go round horsey.  I am more irritated that just as another day or so would have gotten me that horse I find out its getting its speed reduced to less than our current freebie one.  So now after having the feeel of a 32% horse I know Ill be disappointed at the 24% speed.  So Ill have to keep saving for the next level horse.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Still I say MAKE THE HORSE A CORE SPELL.  I'd gladly give up some of our useless, neverused spells for a horse graphiced sow equivilent.</DIV>

Nerfing of wizzie power cause they over did it. The balance genie has been let out of Pandoras box and it ain't ever going back in.</P>

<DIV>OK maybe its just me but main reason people seem [Removed for Content] is that there fun spells blow and we get one decent one at lvl 50 in EQ1 we got a holy steed that was super fast why not just move horse to lvl 40 -50 no noob is gonna create class that has to wait till 40 to get a horse if only reason for class was horse guess that would just make too much sense</DIV>

It will be good for the paladin (and crusader) community if there are less paladins (and sk´s) who are going for the class because of the horse. As a healer i have seen very good paladin tanks, and very bad ones - and not much in between.

SOE .. Leave my horse alone. You can call it fluff but I look at it as a tool for traveling and very helpful for solo. I play 80% solo and 20% group and the horse is a valuable tool for my solo play.
