<DIV>This goes without saying,  but someone needed to say it to me oddly enough,  so I'll share.  Gear condition is important.  Not only that when it reaches 0 you cannot wear it(duh) but I found out that if its below a certain condition(I've heard 70 and below) your gear is less effective,  and believe me it seemed true enough.  Here's the story.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Been grinding alot in TS the past week or so and hadn't made a run to town in a long time.  Had a death here and there but nothing to worry about right?  So last morning I had a really rotten run of bad luck,  got 3 or so deaths.  Gear was at 40 condition.  I figured,  well,  I got at least 3 more deaths before I have to start worrying about it.  Wrong.  I was invited to a group to kill some giants.  Earlier in the week I had been doing alot of grouping at giants and I tanked them quite well.  Didn't take too much damage at all,  healer had no problems keeping me up.  Well,  in this group,  I got my [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] handed to me.  Repeatedly.  Normally in a fight,  I get hit with their new "crushing" attack maybe 3 times at most,  the one that hits for high 200's,  low 300's.  However,  in this group,  with my gear at 40 condition,  I got hit many times often for high 300's.  At first I couldn't figure out what was going on.  I thought maybe they had beefed up mobs or something.  I even had a person in my group that I had played with before,  and even he agreed something was wrong,  something was different,  and I was two levels higher than the last time we killed them.  The next time I logged on,  I depleted my coin pouch a bit and fixed myself up.  Grouped again and I was able to tank as usual.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What is decieving is that with condition low,  you dont see a change in AC or stats.  It still was showing me I had 1600ish AC unbuffed,  but it certainly was not acting like it.  I dont know if its been posted elsewhere,  or mentioned someplace,  but other than not being able to wear it at 0,  I didn't know that my ability to tank would go down as well.  So take this as a friendly reminder to keep your gear in good shape.  I missed out on a really good group because I decided I was a liability.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good hunting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Arxis - Paladin</DIV> <DIV>Leader of Hexen - Kithicor server</DIV>

I think you are correct, and I had the same theory. I was missing repeatedly one night and couldnt figure out why. I looked and was at 60%. I went and repaired and started hitting consistantly again.

Wow, that is a very good thing to know. I always kind of wondered myself, and try to keep my gear repaired anyway, since we all know that when things go bad, they can go bad repeatedly. I will definitely try to do better now. Thanks!

Sorry - bull[FaarNerfed!].Your empirical data is wrong, and you were probably just buffed the first time.Gear condition has no effect on its ability to mitigate or deal damage. There's a plethora of SOE posts about it.

I was fully buffed both times. I dont care what SOE has stated. Let your gear get to low condition, try tanking, then come back and talk. I kill giants on a regular basis with just an illusionist and warden. In a FULL group with templar buffs, bard buffs, and whatever the other classes bring to the table, I was getting waxed on the same mobs I easily tanked before. Don't take my word for it. Try it yourself.

<DIV>I don't care what the plethora of other posters said.  This happened again last night.  I was grouped all night.  FInished my group and went to solo some green ^^.  I checked my armor as I do ten times a night and started tanking.  Killed the first five flawlessly, and number six started eating my lunch.  I checked my armor and it was damaged.  I do not need to buff to take solo 22^^ gnolls so buffs had no impact.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Perhaps a coincedence, but if it is one it is a repeating coincendence.  That my friend is called a pattern.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You play it how you like, I will make sure I am at 100%.  </DIV>
