Someone who has a bright idea, please post their theory. I have no idea!

<DIV>not an idea - solid fact.. you have a buff alled "Blessing of the Penitent" - it gives hp - as long as you wear it you have a chance to 'proc' - if you do a penitent essence spawns within your inventory.</DIV> <DIV>The proc displays an array of red 'sparks' around you when it goes off.</DIV> <DIV>Its not a common proc, so be careful of your essences and keep the buff up at all times, its a 3min timer.</DIV>

<DIV>If I understand correctly, the generated essences act as a consumable regent for a later heal spell?</DIV>

<DIV>One is a HP Buff (50 whole HP I think) - with a chance of a proc of the reagent necessary for the second spell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, once the first spell procs, and you actually have one of those things, the healing spell is a nice one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think like this (right or wrong)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can cast 2 blessings, or pay attention to the proc spell (cuz it sure aint for the HP) that lasts for what... 2 minutes? Its a per fight thing... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I use it solo'ing.. stock up on a couple, and use em in emergencies... On other people, not me.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Look at it this way...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you want to keep a spell up all the time... and then have a nice heal or two, sure.... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I dont have the time nor the inclination to keep my attention on a spell that procs... maybe... 1 in 40 times... to do a heal that you can already cast.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Before the nay-sayers pop up, its about double the blessing heal... close to LoH</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*shrug*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> -Law</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Penitent Sacrament is self only, so you know. It still is a great spell to have though.</DIV>

<DIV>It's a proc? I was under the impression that you acquire one if you take damage while under the influence of the aforementioned buff. So I've been soloing low things without my ward in an attempt to stock up on the things.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/back to the drawing board</DIV>

It is a reactive proc, you have a chance to get one when ever you get hit and the buff is up. If your ward is up you will get no chance since you are technically not getting hit and all of the damage is getting absorbed.

<DIV>I agree with the statement that when you take damage, you have a chance to proc an essence. I'd like to add, that it seems that one of the following is also true: 1) the more damage that you take per strike, the higher chance for procing essence or 2) the higher con the mob hitting you, the higher chance for procing essence. I was in RoV with a group killing golems which where 2-4 levels higher than me and many double arrow mobs and I was getting one essence probably every 5 to 10 minutes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tegra, 27 paladin, Lavastorm</DIV>

I have almost two stacks (50 per stack instead of 20, yay!) essences on me now; the first stack I built up over 4 or 5 levels. The new almost-full stack I made in one XP session in RoV killing mobs 5-6 levels higher than me.The bigger the mob, and the more damage you take, seems to increase the chance that you will receive a pentient essence. The heal is excellent to have, at app3 it's healing about 600 HP, which with blessed aid's ~300 and Faithful Zeal's ~300 is pretty nice for all of what, 3-4 seconds casting for all 3? Great in a pinch.I'd have to say keeping Blessing of the Pentient up is a good thing when fighting large mobs in groups, both for the extra HP (~90ish at app3) and for the essences it produces which allow you to use Pentient Sacrament.

So... buff up, pull a group of 30ish lowbie greys and walk away from the keyboard?Coming back every 3 minutes to re-buff...

I have never received a penitent essence from a grey con mob (even ++ ones). I sat for 30 minutes with the buff up and surrounded by approximately 18 grey mobs and didn't get a single essence (and yes, I was getting hit some, I removed all my armor <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ).

they pop a lot more often when fighting harder mobs. I was tanking in Ruins of Varsoons (around lvl 27) and before I knew it I had like 20 in my inventory.

That's because you are actually getting hit much more often. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
