Oath Strike - kickass damage skill to look forward to

<DIV>At level 28 you get Oath strike, the best damage skill so far I have seen. At adept 1, level 28, it does 200 + 25 damage, then immedietly another 40 + 40. Total damage 300 for 65 or so power, and recast time of 30 secs. You can cast it 3-4 times typically. It is also on its own timer so you still can use divine vengeance, omen of battle, etc. Makes a big difference in fights. I typically fight green ^^. Just a warning. I don't know why, but for some reason when I dinged either 31 or 32, I noticed Oath Strike would do almost no damage about 40% of the time when used against mobs. I thought it very peculiar at first, and thought maybe it was the mob, the level of the mob, or some kind of resistance. So I did some testing. Everything, green through red^ that I've fought solo and grouped for, much of the time it just doesn't do the normal dam, maybe 50hp.Has anyone else noticed this? It's weird because it almost always hit for full from what I can remember, and now it's becoming a serious hindrance and waste of power. Still one of my primary damage dealing powers at level 36. I bet you're seeing it parried more often though, especially as around your level you start fighting mobs that tend to be quite a bit higher level than you, so they have a higher chance to block/parry/etc your attacks.When I was 30 fighting level 39 group mobs I didn't use Oath Strike at all because it was parried too often.

It is probably being blocked and parried. When it hits, it sure hits with a bang. Now... our other supposed Damage over Time spell is Holy Sunder.... does it work for anyone at all? I get no DoT out of it.

Nope no dot there, however Implacable Wrath you get at 32 and it is a dot. At App. IV it does like 50 4 or 5 times.

I have Berik Sword of Thunder and the Ancient Kite Shled dropped in Stormhold as well as a Pristine Forged Steel Greatsword I made. My BP is also Pristine Steel and all my other slotes are pristien CArb Vanguard or dropped laensteel with quality 3, Tier 4 jewelry. Most of my abilities are adept 1. The only adept 3 I have is my targetable heal though and while it heals about 386 points a shot at level 28 it also uses about 85 power.</P> <P>So yeah I suppose I am probably as well armed as one can be at my level weaponwise and am well armored as well. It could be my good gear makes greens so easy.</P> <P>Blue ^^ though still crush me, even with Oath Strike Adept 1 btw, as they should IMO. Also solo orange mobs like the orcs in Zek entry are close affairs as well.</P>
