<DIV>What is the store-bought arnor type that most resembles the quest gear if I wanted to buy a plain one for AC only? And, is there a player-made helm matching this armor that offers good stats? I would still want the look to match as closely as possible to the quest armor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is there a concensus best choice for level 20-30 helm?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>A good helmet (in terms of stats) is a Pristine Forged Carbonite Vanguard Barbute. it's made by armorers.  I don't know how good it would look with quested armor instead of other forged carbonite pieces, however.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Have you considered using the /showhood command to turn off the display of your helmet (you just see your regular head instead)?</DIV>

If you want one to match your quest gear go for a carbonite plate helm, same colours as quested.Alternatively do the SPindlecogs New Job quest for a nice heavy helm

<DIV>Thanks for the info on the carbonite plate. I would prefer not to "/showhood" for roleplay reasons. I just think a paladin just looks better in a helm.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I did a search on the quest that you mentioned, but I could not find it referenced on this forum anywhere except this thread. Can you provide some info on that quest?</DIV><p>Message Edited by Dark Orcin on <span class=date_text>12-07-2004</span> <span class=time_text>09:41 AM</span>

<DIV>Ooooh, this is the first I've heard of a heavy armor helm around level 20, do tell, do tell!  I have not seen this quest, would like some details.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Personally, I use Carbonite Armor for any pieces I haven't finished the quest for yet, because it all matches.  As an iksar, I find the Vanguard to be... flat out fugly.</DIV>

<DIV>For the Spindlecog quest you need to be able to speak Gnomish so you'll need to buy the language primer (or be a Gnome).  Spindlecog (can't recall his first name) is to the immediate right as you go inside the Inn in Baubbleshire.  He sends you on several errands into the Thundering Steppes, all of which can be soloed except the last which is to kill 10 Tide Octupi (which were white and yellow ^^ to my 24 Zerker).  The helm is pretty nice and has the Vanguard skin.  On another note, the quest armor for Pallies is Vanguard?  I haven't finished the first armor quest with my Pally but if it is that's good news since I already bought him some crafted Vanguard pieces.  The Zerker armor is the Heavy Plate skin, not Vanguard (stat-wise they're identicle)</DIV>

<DIV>No, the quested armor is a heavy plate look.  As I said, I use the Carbonite Armor for any pieces I haven't finished the quest for, as it is the same graphic, and I prefer it to vanguard.  If the quest helm is vanguard, I may not get it, simply because imho it looks stupid on an iksar.</DIV>

<DIV>If you start in freeport, the fallen gate quest (if you do it soon enough) gets a pretty decent helm (I did it at 15 before I betrayed) the helm is higher then forged carbonite vangard until level 22 when the vangard becomes higher ac. (course if you take the heavy armor helm you cant wear it till 20 but hey thats the breaks).</DIV>

I have the <a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=5752" target=_blank>Heavy Circlet of the Betrayer</a> from the Fallen Gate access quest and the <a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/en/item.vm?itemId=7459" target=_blank>Spindlecog Tinkerhelm</a> looks a lot better to me. Going to finish that quest when I get home from work. It's been sitting on the 10 octopi for a week...

<DIV>I can't remember the name of my helmet but if you go to my playersite by clicking my name below you can see it's name and how it looks with the rest of the quested armor. I think it matches, but I'm not heavy plate fashion critic.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>EDIT: Oops, I have the helmet on my player page but I haven't updated the paperdoll screenshot. I'll have to do that when I get home. It's the pristine forged carbonite vanguard barbute mentioned above though and is a full face helm that shows nothing. I kind of like it better than the one in my pick, especially since it seemed to match a little better.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Kriterian on <span class=date_text>12-08-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:51 PM</span>
