<DIV><FONT face=Verdana size=2>What makes Paladins greater than the other fighter classes? They hit for the least amount, cannot tank as well as a guardian, cannot hold aggro when aggro is direly needed to be held... Okay, so Paladins can throw out a heal when its needed, that's the only thing I see that is nice about them. I have a level 26 paladin and I am not seeing much improvement. Anybody here with a higher lvl paladin that can convince me to keep my character... I'm thinking about starting a new one, but I was really hoping to keep this char until 50... but the way it looks now, I don't know if it's worth keeping.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>There are no fighter greater than another. This is the short answer. Paladins are holy warriors, there are dark warriors, and plain straight warriors... they all are different, and weren't meant to be more powerful than another, unless there has been a coding flaw...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Doum, Hunter of Undead! 21 High Elf Paladin of Unrest</DIV></DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=2>"They hit for the least amount", </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>True, though we get the better nukes(Oath strike adept 1 at level 31 currently does up to 242 for me)</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>"cannot tank as well as a guardian,"</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>See other threads about that. That's simply not true. We tank differently than Guardians, but we can tank just as well. It's a misconception that carried over from beta where Guardians were slightly better before they buffed us up for retail. I'm tanking named mobs 5-6 levels higher than me with only 1 templar in my regular group with no problem. Maybe you just dont use the right skills/buffs when you should.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2> "cannot hold aggro when aggro is direly needed to be held..."</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Funny, I never have any problem holding aggro. I suggest you do switch class so you dont stain our reputation any longer.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Thank you.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Jokalaylau</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>31 Paladin</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Oasis</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>you're trying to compare too many things. why do we need to be the best tank, best dammage, best whatever? paladins are (and pretty much always have been) generally a hybrid cross between a fighter and a healer with some more combat utilities. if you wanted to be the primary tank or uber dps, you should not have rolled as a paladin. we can tank just fine, when needed. but we weren't designed as the best dammage takers. we can add a lot of usefullness to a party tho, whether filling the role of main tank, playing as secondary tank, or even a bit of DPS+healing by lending our AC to another tank, throwing on some runes, or protecting other party members with our intervening or rune buffs while the healer gets things back under control.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>a lot has to do with your playing skills. usually when i join a group and i have to tank, the group is really suprised at how well things flow. overall the healer is spending less power to heal me than if we had any other class of a tank. and i save party member lives all the time. most other tanks can't do that, so i'm happy with what's been given to our class.</DIV>

Perhaps you are not meant to be a paladin. You're analyzing too much.
I agree lol. I have no problems holding hate. Thats a personal problem of yours there =)

<DIV>I out tank every guardian I have ever come across. It's just that simple. Not being arrogant, but I have the best equiptment for my level, great taunt skills and I know how to balance my ward/heals with my taunts. I don't do as much damage as other tanks.. whoopty do da. I know my job is to TAKE damage and hold aggro.. I do it better than any guardian I have seen. No complaints from me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV> <DIV> <HR> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ccffff size=4>- <FONT color=#333333>Blade</FONT><FONT color=#009900>zilla</FONT> <U>Killa</U> - The Absolute <EM>Sexiest</EM> <FONT color=#333366>Ogre</FONT> <FONT color=#ffffff>Paladin</FONT> Ever.. <DIV>As far as tanking's concerned, paladin tank just as well (if not better) than guardians do. Even with multiple mobs incoming, I'll pull with Righteous Anger, toss an AE hate out, use Demonstration of Faith, and they will all be stuck on me pretty good unless a [Removed for Content] in the group decides to 1) not assist me and 2) continue to fight one mob on his/her own.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Paladins are not 'off-tanks', and we are not designed to <STRONG>just be</STRONG> the off-tank either. However, when it comes to it, we are <STRONG>the best</STRONG> off-tanks because not only can we tank mez, we can help whoever that is tanking tank twice as good ... I doubt any other fighter sub-class can say that about themselves. Letting those who cannot shake their EQ1 mindset that there's one class which does one job so others are worthless, or the misconception created from beta that guardians are the best is just letting yourself be fooled.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Of course, player skill plays a lot into it as well. Actually, I'd say EQ2 is about 85% skill, 15% sub-class ability. It's all about taking advantage of your skill set to make your character shine ... else, you will be a gimped tank compared to guardians, or anybody else (including wizards) for that matter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
